Wow. Wow. Wow. Dallas went nuts there in the 1st half.

To put that in perspective, the Suns averaged 83 points in the last 5 games of their 1st round playoff series.

The kings lost Webber and Bobby Jackson to injury during the game. I don't know the severity of either though.

According to a guy on this board (jbeecham) - injuries are no excuse. :D

You know I wasn't saying they lost because of losing Webber or Jackson. It was just an interesting side note that no one else had mentioned from the game. I really don't care who wins this series at all.

Besides........I said the Lakers who can't use injuries as an excuse because Kobe and Shaq are still healthy. I didn't say anything about other teams. I think the Suns-Spurs series would have been different if Malik Rose doesn't set a moving pick on Marbury that rendered his right should basically useless for games 5 & 6.

Sorry, but only one word can describe your statements: STUPID.

Basketball is a team game. Losing key members of that team changes the team. Losing 2 of the top 6 players really changes that team. Considering which players got hurt for the Lakers, they took a big hit defensively.

Kobe and Shaq cannot win it on their own, regardless of what you might think.

Jordan and Pippen never won any rings by themselves, they were part of Championship teams with excellent role players around them. Who hit the shot that beat the Suns in the 1993 Finals? Jordan, Pippen or Paxson?

Sorry, I just think it is your Laker-hating ways that makes you say "Injuries make a difference for every team BUT the Lakers."

I tend to agree with you Brian, but when a team starts crumbling because they rely on their starting forwards 42% shooting and his 9PPG average, its scary that that kind of production results in such a huge falloff...

I agree that those injuries are huge, and your specific point is dead on. What I wanna know is why Jackson and the front office allowed their team to be reliant on such mediocre backups. Seems like they could have built a much better team. But hindsight is 20/20.

I dont think the lakers are done, but if SA wins one in LA, its all over.

When Jackson took over, the team was financially strapped. Still is. Their money is tied up in the current players, so much so that they had to sign Devean George or lose him and get a lesser player to sign as a free agent. George has improved each year, especially defensively. I do know that Jackson was ticked about the Elden Campbell/Eddie Jones for Glen Rice trade. And that showed up in the rift between Jackson and Rice later on in that first title season under Phil. So Phil basically inherited the team differently than he would have liked and is stuck with it. Lindsay Hunter, Ron Harper, and other free agents helped a lot, but they're gone. I do not understand why Samaki Walker still plays like he is in a daze out there. Hard to believe he was drafted about 5 spots before Kobe. :D
