Not going into specifics, but injuries were worse than everyone thinks.

I am speculating here...but I would think that if he was/is going to be OK physically and be able to resume his football career...someone would have said something by now....

The silence is not good....although I obviously hope I am wrong.

Josh Mccown in an interview on the radio was asked about Anderson...he kind of paused for a bit..and said: he will be alright...and he clearly wanted to get off of the topic...not exactly a ringing endorsement on Damiens health.....the tone of his voice and the way he said it made me think things were not good (contrary to his statement).

I talked to Damien at training camp for a bit...and he was a super nice guy...from what I remember he had a wife and a small child (or two - cannot remember).

Harpo's right. I've also heard through an un-named source that Damian is lucky to be alive. Apparently he's so messed up you can't even recognize his face. He'll never play football again. Mind you, this is uncorroborated, I've only heard this from one albeit reliable source, but it does back-up what Harpo said.

Thats just terrible to hearI don't give a flying $%# about football, and whether he'll play again! I hope the guy recovers so he can watch his children grow up. My thoughts and prayers are with him and the ones that love him.

Obviously, the Anderson family has experiencing a terribly traumatic experience - with 3 sons all badly injured. It's understandable that they would want to retain some measure of confidentiality.

At the same time, Damien has been a public figure - a member of an extended family of fans who are rooting for him. Just as many of us here did what we could to boost Skkorp's spirits, perhaps a similar show of support would boost Damien's spirits as well.

Omo - I know you and the Cardinals cannot violate confidentiality, but can you tell us (a) whether the Cardinal organization is keeping in close and constant touch with the Anderson family and (b) whether it would be possible for fans - either individually or collectively - to send Damien our best wishes and prayers?

Remember, Boston was is a nasty accident and was not supposed to play again. One year later he was in the Pro-Bowl.

Boston was in an accident that killed the other driver, but he was not injured.

Two completely different situations.

A woman eluding the police drove her vehicle head-on into Boston's. Boston and his passenger had their seatbelts on...and they were in a Hummer. They walked away from the collision. The woman was killed, as ajcardfan said.

Damien was driving under the influence (allegedly) and not wearing his seatbelt. Getting thrown from a vehicle is never good. He is lucky to be alive.

Right now it sounds like Jay Williams of the Bulls is a better comparison, lucky to be alive, unlikely to play again.

Sure hate to hear about things like this especially with his brothers in the same car I can't imagine what the family is going through.

What was the name of the small guard from Duke that got in a terrible wreck just outside of ARCO arena, and is he still playing ball anywhere?

That was Bobby Hurley. I don't think he played again.

Bobby Hurley, he's trying to become a coach, he did come back but he wasn't the same, not that I think he'd have been a great pro anyways but he never was the same. he also owns a race horse stable I just read when looking this up.

Hurley was VERY lucky. His teammate Mike Peplowski was behind him on the way home when the accident occurred. Hurley wound up in a drainage ditch injured, with his head under water. If not for Peplowski, Hurley would have drowned.

My girlfriend's family live in Sacramento they showed me the ditch where the accident happened once, the water level is seasonal(rain, runoff etc) and there was more than enough in there to drown him that night according to witnesses.

We have sent a note to Damien from myself, Jo and ASFN.

Also the folks in the front office have promised to let us know what they can, which right now isn't much.
