Starting point guard for Miami Heat just opted out of his contract. Can't officially sign until July 22. I guess he can agree in principal. Any of you guys look at him? He just hit the market.

That's exactly why the Suns would get him! Nash and Jones would be overkill at PG and leave us defiecient at the big man spot! That sounds like PHO MO historically to me!

Plus I can't stand him or his Elton John sunglasses. Or the way he sucks up to Shaq. Or the fact he now thinks he's great, despite the glaring fact that he has been on 7 or 8 teams and only now puts up good #'s-with Shaq, that is. I personally would hate to have him on this team.

I agree. But I just want the Amaré Effect helping someone else. Of course if he were to play here (he won't; ex-Shaq teamates are notoriously overpriced) I would root for him. But I'm rooting against having to root for him, if you know what I mean.

The only reason Jones would leave the Heat is to get more money. It would be beyond stupid for the Suns to pay this 1 dimensional player more money than any other team.

I am wary of any role player who plays with such a dominating player like Shaq or Jordan. Even Pippen was a shell of himself after Mike left.

The Heat might be in trouble this offseason. Damon Jones has opted out and Udonis Haslem is an RFA and they have Bird rights on neither, so they only have the MLE to spend on both. Some team is going to sign Haslem to an MLE offer sheet and force the Heat's hand.

I would love Haslem for the MLE, although Miami would definitely match him.


Haslem is much much more valuable to the Heat than Jones is. Haslem represents the first time in a while that Shaq had a legitimate front court mate. He can hit the open jumper to spread the floor for Shaq, and will help a lot on bodying up the other team and grabbing rebounds.

While Jones was a good spot up shooter, a lot of it was because of Shaq like mentioned earlier. They could find a cheap replacement to do the same thing. The bonus about Jones is that he plays PG for them, but Wade could easily slide over and do that.

I know Brett really wants Rush here, but I could see him rejoining Shaq in Miami and playing very well.

Mobley is so not worth the money. Turnover machine and horrible at crunch time.

There are several players I would rather have been Jones or Mobley for the mid-level exception, and that is what it would take to get either one of them. As such said before I don't think SAR is a wonderful fit, but I would rather have him. The Shaq effect on guards is much greater than the Amare effect is now or will be in the near future.

Besides, neither of these guys are going to come to Phoenix to be backups.

Yeah, but PHO MO - (Foh Moh) - rhymes! ALso, the post office and the FAA use the PHO abbreviation.
