I just finished watching the replay from CBS. Man this guy is just bitter tool. I could not stand his negative attitude towards the Cards.

Dierdorf is still one of the best in the business, I like his honest analysis, and think he is one of the most thoughtful analysts out there.

He's in the ring of honor for gosh's sake.

He's always going to be a Cardinal, he's not a blind homer but he gave them props and especially the fans, he's happy we won.

His problem always has been with management and he's bitter towards them but if he was really bitter he wouldn't have showed for his induction to the ring of honor.

His entire career was in St. Louis, he still lives there, he's not a fan of the move but it's still his team.

Really, the only negative thing he said was that Pittsburgh TD on 3rd and 26. What do you expect him to say on a play like that?

You have an example? I didn't think he was bad.

He was on the radio on Friday and they asked why he was in the rams ring of honor saying that it is odd because he never played for the rams. He responded that he has lived there for his whole adult life, blah, blah... then they asked if he had a choice which one would he rather be in, rams or cards. He said that he is lucky to be in both and that if he had to choose that he would choose the rams, then he said if the Cardinals had a different owner it would be a different story.

On the telecast I thought he made a backhanded compliment about being in the ring of honor in Glendale even though he has never been here. Also when Fitz caught the ball and had one foot down and was shoved out, Dierdorf was going off about how he would never have gotten his other foot down (which is a tough call) but he was going off about it like it would have never happened in a million years.

I though that his tone the whole game was biased against the Cards and on the final drive it was almost like he was rooting for the Steelers.

Maybe I am off base, but he just didn't come off like an unbiased commentator.

Ok how many times did he bring up the 3rd and 26?

Dan has every right to be bitter at Bidwill, the history there is pretty deep.

A. He fired the best coach the team ever had because he was complaining about spending money on players, players they needed to win a championship.

B. He moved the team out of St. Louis and Dan's always lived there.

C. When Dan played the ownership was so cheap it was embarrassing.

Dan's an ok guy.

However, about the St. Louis thing, I blame the city mostly.

They refused to pay Bidwill, refused to build the stadium, then paid a kings ransom to get an even worse owner to move there and made the Rams the richest franchise in football.

Now that Bidwill has a stadium they're suddenly not so bad anymore, that's all the man ever asked for and I guess no one ever tried actually giving him what he asked for.

Ironic.

I thought he and Gumble did a great calling of the game. By far the best Cardinals broadcast I have ever seen.

Wow...I couldn't stand him on MNF and can't stand him during games.

I really think he is an idiot announcer.

I wish he would bring real football knowledge to the job but he just drools on himself.

How About Greg Dumbell?

Before Breaston ran a punt back for a TD, Dumbell said the Cards better watch out because the next punt might be even longer. Then Dan said that it was hard on the guys sprinting down field for sixty yards.

I liked Dierdorf's call of the game. He has some animosity towards ownership but I think he did a good job of being a professional in the booth.

Oh and that one foot in bounds on Fitz, I'd agree that there was zero chance the other leg was going to come down in bounds.

I heard the same interview -- he didnt say that

he said he couldnt choose -- what he said was that all the fans who watched him play live in St Louis --

but the owners/franchise he played for is in AZ--

and what he said was that if the Bidwill's didnt own the team, he would have little attachement to the Cardinal franchise right now--

the metaphor he used was that he was a kid whose parents got a divorce -- he loves both

He also said on the telecast that the franchise has done a great job in reaching out to its former players, even the ones who didnt play in AZ

and BTW -- in my opinon, calling a guy who is in the Hall of Fame, and was a key part of the last really good run of Cardinals teams "Dumdorf" is poor

Dierdorf doesn't like the Arizona Cardinals.....bottom line. He has a lot of pride for the St.Louis cards.....not the AZ cards. He has made it known before---even in his HOF induction speech.

Good commentator.....but not a AZ cards lover

So far, I've only watched the replay for the second half, but what I watched, I couldn't help but be embarrassed for Dan because he was letting his love of the Cardinals show through. I suspect that since this was probably the first time he's called a Cardinals game since his Monday Night Football days, he probably relished being able to call a victory.

As to his opinion of the Bidwill family: have we already forgotten how he admonished the crowd during his Ring of Honor induction speech?

Good point Lloydian it's a shame we "let them off the hook" in the Bears game & put a downer on Mr. Dierdorf's ROH induction. I will have to watch the replay on NFL network & see how it sounds. BTW - Great signature lets hope you don't have to change it again!

I didn't think it sounded like Dierdorf was secretly rooting for us - in fact, it seemed to me throughout the game that he was making excuses for the Steelers and predicting the Steelers would prevail. The Cards would do something good, and Dan would say something tantamount to "Yeah but..." (This despite having Dierdorf having his name displayed prominently as part of the stadium's ring of honor).

I get the impression that Dan - a StL homer - still has lingering resentment about the Cardinals' leaving that city.

I'm still wondering whether I heard him correctly when Karlos Dansby hurt his arm and I heard him say something like "thank goodness!" (Re-watch the tape; it sure sounded if that's what he said).

Think he said that because they were talking about the arm injury and then he say his teammates lifting him up by his arms, indicating it wasn't too serious.
