Dan Patrick/KW/Card's Super Bowl Win

Did anyone hear the Emmitt Smith interview on Thursday with Dan Patrick where Emmitt said that he would trade all his records for another Super Bowl win? He then went on to say something along the lines of, "especially last year".

Dan Patrick was incredulous, "with the Arizona Cardinals???".

Emmitt then said, very seriously, "Yes, with the Arizona Cardinals."

Personally, the whole exchange has changed the way I feel about Emmitt Smith. It was classy and heartfelt and dispelled any thoughts I held about his tenure here being "just for the money".

To me this also says alot about the ownership/front office, I can't see Emmitt or Warner playing here wanting to win a SB unless they really thought the front office/ownership were also serious about trying to win one as well, so all those people out there who say BB is just in there trying to make a buck can !!!

More Thoughts on KW

I don't think Josh McCown was blowing smoke when praising Warner for helping him become a better QB and person.

That said, my vision is that: (a) we sign KW for 3 or 3 years with the understanding that (b) he becomes our QB Coach when he hangs up his cleats.

By then Krusczak will probably have moved up or on anyway, and Kurt would be a great fit as an eventual part of the coaching staff.

(Note - the other part of my vision has us acquiring a young QBOF to be put under KW's wing - & naturally, I'm thinking of someone like a Vince Young or further down in the draft, a Reggie McNeal. But it could be a Cutler, Croyle or Whitehurst type if that's what the Cardinal scouts determine).

I meant to post this earlier today but got sidetracked.

Kurt Warner was on Dan Patrick's radio show on ESPN earlier today. Patrick asked him if he was a hall of famer and he replied that probably not since he had not played long enough. They then went on to discuss the if's of the Ram's beating the Pat's in his 2nd SB and if that would have been enough to propel him into the HOF. Kurt then went on to question if he was to win another SB if that would get him in? It went something like this:

DP: You mean with Arizona?
KW: Yeah
DP: slight chuckle...Well...if you take the Arizona Cardinals to the SB I will personally wear a sign that you should be an automatic 1st ballot shoo in!!!
But then that won't help you much since nobody outside of ESPN will see it.
KW: Well you could wear it on the air.
DP: I just might do that.
KW: So you would do that?
DP: Well what kind of a time frame are we talking about here?
KW: slightly incredulous tone....What do you mean a time frame?
DP: Tell you what...if you take Arizona to a SB win in say 3 years I will wear a sign on the air that says you should be inducted into the HOF.
KW: You're on.

Needless to say it got the ol' Big Red Kool Aid up and percolatin' thru my veins after hearing this!!! It was entertaining and for a brief moment I had visions!!!

Sign him now...!!! What a great team player...!!!

I did hear that one Jeff. My heart skipped a few beats when he said it. It was classy also. I really believe Emmitt enjoyed his time with the Cards. I think he sincerely wanted to win when he was with 'em and I agree he was in Arizona to win and not "just for the money" as you say.

Larry Fitz was on the Colin Cowherd show one day this week on ESPN but I missed it. Did anyone hear it?

I, too, heard the interview. He also gave an insight into how long he planned on playing. He mentioned he got into the league late, but that he'd still like to be able to play 11-12 years. So, He wants to maybe play till he's 39! I hope he plays out of his mind next year, but I think I want someone else QBing the team in 2007 or at the very latest, 2008.

His mind is saying 11-12 years but his body is saying only 2-3 more years.

I like his attitude.

Though I hate the Cowpies immensely[?]mostly bcause they tore the Cards up 2x every year, Emmitt was one of the 2 players I truly respected during the 1990's for Dallas..
What a twist of fate that Emmitt's first year in the league with the CowGirls he rushed for the same yardage as his last year with the Cards..937 or so.. Interesting side bar.. Do you all remember when Fox sent Michael Irvin to Phx to report on the upcoming AZ-DallasCryBabies game that year[when Emmitt broke his clavicle?]
Emmitt insisted that Irvin check out this 2nd round rook, that even though he's from Fla.State, "The Boy can PLAY!" Does anyone remember what Irvin said about ABoldin?
My memory goes fuzzy here can anyone fill in the empty and/or inaccurate spaces??
