Detroit has also played one more game than the lions.....and one of the games the panthers played was the giants. Gotta factor that in.

I think you meant to say that the Panthers have played one more game than the Lions...
Though, that is why I used the per game stats... And still, the Panthers have 1 more sack than the Lions.
And of course, the Lions played the Cards so that more than cancels out the Panthers playing the Giants! ;)

We've only played one game that really mattered vs Carolina. On the road. And we won.

By the way is Steve Smith still alive? He must be a 100 years old. Seems like he was torching us when my grandfather was watching the games with me.

Is this the year the Panthers take a big step forward with their elite QB Newton?

Let's see what BA comes up with to deal with their front 7.

Simply have to win this game as the schedule isn't getting any easier.

NFC DEFENSE:

Yards per game: Panthers #4 / Lions #7
Points per game: Panthers #2 / Lions #8
Rushing yards per game: Panthers #4 / Lions #11
Passing yards per game: Panthers #4 / Lions #9
Sacks: Panthers 10 in three games / Lions 9 in four games

But yea... the Lions are "as good or better"... :D

Yep, they are.

He always, and I mean always torches us too. He's a ****ty person though. Always getting into fights with his teammates and the other team. Can't wait till I don't have to see him on the other side anymore. Not quite how I felt everytime I saw my guys line up against Rice but I've hated few wide receivers more...

As always, when playing the Panthers it is a very physical, control the line of scrimmage type game...
They can run the ball. They can defend the run. And they can get after the QB.

We will have to match their physicality and effectively stop the run so that we can get our defense off the field... otherwise, Carolina will enjoy a very healthy 3rd down conversion rate.

Not feeling good about this game...

We beat them 3 seasons ago with a worse offensive line and Kevin Kolb at QB. Our defense is better than opening day 2011 and Cam Newton is erratic. Dangerous but erratic.

This will be an interesting game to say the least. I have this feeling that we have kept all these DB's and ILB's to employ something Bowles has cooked up vs dual threat type QBs. We might get a first look at some of that this weekend. A test run if you will for the megalotard the next week and ugly midget who's coming to play on the 17th.

I have a bad feeling about facing CAR with a new Left Tackle.

Or maybe I don't.

Great thought. We have seen Bowles use a ton of DB's to try and negate Bush & then Sproles/Graham and now your idea with the mobile QB's.

Hopefully it works out better than Sproles/Graham.

This guy Star Lotulelei is going to be a problem for us. After watching him a couple of times he really clogs up the middle and gets a push on passing downs. If the coaches don't come up with a plan to block him it could be a long day for the running game and Palmer. He may not have a pocket to step up into.

I have watched him as well and came away impressed. He will be a top 5 NT in short time. It looks like his earlier draft projection of top-5 or top-10 was more indicative of his talent level. Carolina is deep on the defensive line, I think this Cards O-Line vs Carolina D-line will decide this game. If they get heat on Carson, I think they win this game.

Levi's play has taken away from the fact that the Cards interior line gets essentially no push from guard to guard. If the Cards cant run at all and are forced to pass, it will hurt them in this match up because Carolina can dial up the blitz.

If they get heat? They are going to get heat. That much is a given.

I predicted before the season the Palmer would not last 6 games. I HOPE I am wrong.

I believe those kind of predictions are transferable to Levi's current team. So Big Ben may not be long for this world.

Ha! Nice...

Still, as a Cards fan, we have no basis to ever downplay an opponent... And, I still contend that had Smith held onto that TD pass in the first quarter, and LaFell held onto the one he dropped later in the game, this game would've ended quite differently.

Our defense was incredible yesterday... period. They won the game for us...

Stop speculating. (Never gets old.)

I don't understand why we can't downplay opponents? Am I wrong a lot about it? Of course. But I downplayed opponents to a 9-7 worst playoff team going to the Super Bowl and winning (if I recall correctly) against a Pittsburgh team I downplayed.

The speculating thing is pretty damn funny... :D

As for the downplaying thing... I guess it's a matter of perspective. Having played the game, on both very good and very bad teams, I know the literal meaning of "On any given Sunday...". And in the NFL, where they all get paid to play and where parity is king, I don't ever feel compelled to diss an opponent.
The margin between a W and a L in the NFL is paper thin - most of the time. Yesterday was no different. A few balls caught instead of dropped (not deflected and dropped - just dropped), and chances are the game ends differently.

Oh bruuuuthhhher. :)

Here is what usually happens. Just after a Card's game (which they actually lose) I think the Cards will not win again all year. Then the closer the game gets, the more I think they can win. Then right before the game, I am very confident. Then the game starts and I lose all confidence immediately. This started when the Cards played in the NFC East and had no business whatsoever thinking they could stay within ten points of some of those Redskins, Cowboy, Giants and Eagle teams. I would even think they could any given sunday in RFK once in a while.

Who cares? And I have played football in the park lots of times. So what? :)
