I don't get this. I thought the Cardinals were also offering $6 mil a year? I know he wanted more than 2 years. So add the 2 meaningless years onto the end like the Browns did. They're not guaranteed anyway.

The Browns only guaranteed $14 mil. We would have been guaranteeing $12 mil, right? So we couldn't gamble ponying up the extra $2 mil? Something doesn't add up here. Maybe we only wanted to guarantee 1 year?

$14 mil guaranteed versus the reported $6mil guaranteed we offered is a steep jump.

Wow, so we were only willing to guarantee 1 year? Maybe that's what Dockett was talking about.

I think I'm starting to come around on this though. I like having the extra money to spend.

I just worry about what happens when we play somebody like Denver. Dansby's smarts vs Minter's rookieness might spell the difference with Manning.

Is there anyone on this forum who would take $6 mil over $12 mil? I don't fault Dansby at all for his choice---football is a brutal game and players pay a heavy price in terms of their health/well-being after they leave the game. The career is short and the players have to gather their chips while they can.

Good luck to Dansby. Thanks for the great play last year. Let's see what BASK do to restock/reload.

I would take less now if I had already made as much as Dansby has. Going into the twilight of my career in a place I want to be if more important to me. Heck, I took less money at my current job by about 12K a year because if was a place I wanted to be and had a shorter commute.

Everyone is different and I knew it was coming and I am bumbed out, but I understand it was his choice and respect that even though I would not have made the same one.

Would you have accepted the other job if the difference was $6,000,000 instead of $12,000. I believe the guarenteed money from Cleveland is more than the total contract the Card's were offering. If you say yes to not accepting the $6 million, , I have a bridge in Brooklyn I'll sell you cheap.

Again, if I had made the money Dansby has already made, I would have taken the $6 million and no reason to be a ass about it. That is MY choice and I respect HIS choice since I know who he is. To me, happiness is more than money.

Depending on what other money we spend, I'm kind of excited to see the Comp Picks we get with Dansby and ARoberts getting pretty big deals this year.

Pete Prisco of CBS Sports pans the Browns moves. [Gave the Veldheer signing a 'B".

ILB Karlos Dansby to the Cleveland Browns: They let a 30-year-old linebacker go inD'Qwell Jackson, but then they sign a player two years older? That makes no sense. Yes, Dansby had a nice season for the Cardinals in 2013 on a one-year deal, and he's better than Jackson, but age has to be a factor here. Why not get a young, fast player in the draft? Let's face it: 32-year-old linebackers don't have a lot of good football left in their bodies. This is a strange move. Grade: C

S Donte Whitner to the Cleveland Browns: The Browns opted to let T.J. Ward go to sign Whitner to a deal that reportedly will pay him $7 million a year. That's a wash in terms of talent, but Ward is younger. I always thought Whitner was a liability in coverage for the 49ers. Grade: C+

I am happy for him to get paid. I am not happy that he paid lip service a year ago about wanting to leave a strong Cardinal legacy. No he didn't. He wanted to get paid. I'd respect him a lot more if he'd just come out and said that.

I have no hard feelings about Dansby leaving. He did a masterful job here in 2013 for very little pay. We have nothing to gripe about. He is nearing retirement and this is his last contract. He took the money, and that is no small event for what facing his future means to his family and it's security. Good luck, and thanks for the great years you spent as a Cardinal. That last one was especially appreciated.

If Dansbys family wasn't ALREADY secure with the more then 40 million he has made in the NFL already then he is a complete moron and bigger douche than i thought. :D

I've been silent since I heard the news. Too many mixed feelings. But I have to say, better now than later, for one simple reason: we didn't over-reach or over-pay. It sets a very important precedent for other players and I'd rather an older player like Dansby be the example.

That being said I don't really wish him luck nor do I hope the Browns somehow not suck. In the long run I think the precedent being set will mean more than what he would have brought anyway. Keim and BA don't mess around and I approve.

Can't blame him, he plays for the money-----as others have said his choice. I will miss watching him play. Los on the field last year was fun to watch. I don't believe the fans in Cleveland will be able the say the same about this year. They need the rest of the defense for that. IMO he had a real strong year but owes as much to them as to his own talent.

He gave us a great season, and that is that. Anyone would've been a fool to not take that deal in Cleveland. Rich people never think they have enough money, that's human nature.

Even if you want to argue about winning, you can make an argument that Cleveland is not that bad of place to go when you compare the AFC North to the NFC West.

Supernaturally called to go to Cleveland? Cleveland?!?!

Dansby is a great football player but..... I just don't know what to say.

What LOS is saying is that money is his religion. Cleveland therefore offered him spirituality... hence, supernaturally called. Money is god. It is super and he is a natural disciple lol

Wow that's overpay considering that Donald Butler got 3 years $20 million and Butler's a lot better and younger than Dansby.

I think it's funny some of the biggest Boldin supporters are calling Dansby money hungry and bashing him. Boldin is the exact same way and some people still love him.

I never heard Boldin express the wish to be in our ring of honor. And then promptly bail. Again. I feel like the jilted girlfriend who thinks she can change her man, but he just keeps cheating and cheating. Lol
