Here is a list of players that was available, Im not going to look into anymore because AZ missed their oppurtunity.
1.Jamie Sharper
2. Sam Cowart
3. Derek Smith
and I dont know how much is left in the tank but Jr. Seau also.

Jamie Sharper - the big FA bust from last year for Seattle and cut right away when the season ended. A - is he healthy. B - Is he any good anymore. Both questions you can easily answer No to. There is a reason he hasnt signed with anyone yet.

Sam Cowart - Cut By Minny on a LB starved team, replaced by a rookie. Couldnt do anything behind the should have been pro bowler Fatty Patty. That tells me all I need to know.

Derek Smith - Was never a FA.

Seau - 16 year Vet Has been. Hasnt played more then a half a season in 2 straight years and there is a big reason why he hasnt signed anywhere as well.

That list only goes to show that we did the best we could in the FA market by signing an UDFA, drafted a 5th rounder, and signed a 11 game starter in Mark Brown who had just as good of a year as anyone one of those guys an that list and is only 26.

There will be more scrambling after June 1st cuts come around...

Today more then any other year the June 1st cut down date is a myth.

First teams still have butt loads of money left with the cap being raised so much. Second the new CBA rule is that you can cut 2 guys before June 1st and designate them June 1st cuts and get the cap benefits of june 1st without having to wait. This helps players that would normally have to wait get better offers now instead of whn the money is dried up. So most teams have already made their big June 1st cuts already.

Come on.. As Joe stated, these guys wouldn't make any impact. They're way over the hill.

Better options would be:
Chris Claiborne, Tommy Polley, Na'il Diggs, Nate Wayne and Jay Foreman.

There's nothing wrong with trying Pace and Dansby at new positions in minicamp. (If it works, it could help us a lot).

But to automatically assume that Pace has the skills to play SLB and Dansby will be able to master the Mike position is taking a pretty big leap of faith. And if we were to try to "force" the change, it could spell disaster.

We'll just have to wait and see. Meanwhile, it wouldn't hurt to continue trolling the FA market for MLB. SLB and, for that matter, FS help.

Denny Green has an eye for talent! Would anyone care to deny that?

In evaluating a player he has the ability to discern their skills, strengths and weaknesses. In doing so he is not only able to determine a players skill levels, but also how those skills might best be employed. I seem to recall that he has had success a couple of times wherein a player which DG had make a position change ended up being All-Pro caliber in their new position (names escape me, or I could be wrong, but have a vague recollection of such).

That said, I believe that what the Cardinals are in the process of doing is evaluating various players skills and abilities to play various positions, to anticipate a potential need due to injuries.

Certainly, if during this process it is determined that a player may better help the team overall by playing in the alternate position then the change would possibly be made more permanent.

It is called cross-training and it has been proven to be a valid and valuable practice.
