It's not a good situation because the Cardinals don't use their franchise tag ever. Last time it was used was when Buddy was the coach and Kwamie Lassister got the designation. Unless something gets done the Cards will let Dansby walk. That's been the track record for these type of ordeals.

Actually, they used it on Aeneas and got a 2nd and a 4th from the Rams. But your point is still valid. They should have used it on Davis IMO.

I'd like to see them try to resign Dansby as well. I don't really care how much it takes(franchise?) keep him here. He could be part of this core of players Graves likes to blather about.
IMO he has proven that he can make plays for this team and to lose him would set our defense back.
Though we are still in it this year I can't help thinking of ways to help this team out for next year and I'd love to see Dansby back at OLB with new ILB to take his place. With Dansby back on the edge, he would be able to rush the passer more consistantly again or get the 2-3 interceptions that he seems to get per year.

I swear Cardinals fans aren't happy unless they can find something wrong.

Everyone would like to see Dansby locked up. I'm sure the Cardinals would like to see it, too.

For now, I'm more interested in what's happening on the field...because for once in a long time here we are in mid-October and we're not forced to look to the offseason; there's a shot for this team to go to the playoffs ("playoffs? PLAYOFFS??!!") and because of an extremely weak NFC, they may go far into the playoffs.

I for one and happy about our current record. We are contending this year and we actually look like an NFL team. But our wins seem flukey too me thus far. I want to see this team not just get lucky I want them to be out and out better than other teams and i still don't see that yet.

Dansby getting resigned would help this team continue to go up. Not getting him resigned would flatten our upward rise. Of course if Beisel plays lights out in his absence....

I'm happy with the record but the injury situation has really put the prospect of even winning a weak division in doubt.

The biggest dissapointment for me has been with Leinart. I really thought that he'd really play well this year after getting in so many games last year. That didn't happen and now he's out for the season. With the Cardinals history Leinart will probably have to retire and get an artificial shoulder.

See Andre Wadsworth and Eric Swann for reference:bang:

It's the losses that seem flukey to me. The last drive meltdown and endzone fumble debacle at SF.... The stupid Wilson penalty in Baltimore..... The QB disaster last week.......

when you're a middle of the pack team everything seems flukey b/c you're literally one play away from winning or losing. this team is the best example of that i can ever remember.

that said, that's a big step up for this team. next year we'll see substantial growth imo.

wow. i can't believe anyone actually thinks this.
Why? It's not that I actually think all that highly of the Cardinals. It's that I think so little of the NFC.

It's not that any team can win on any given Sunday in the NFC, it's that any team can lose on any given Sunday.

If we get matched up with Washington, Tampa Bay, Detroit or Chicago in the first round of the playoffs, you don't think that's a winnable game at this point?

honestly? nope. not with either tim starting. and not with a full game of warner either. harry hit it on the head . . . something that was nagging at me, but i just couldn't put my finger on . . . a little warner (like in the two minute offense) is good, a lot of warner (like starting a playing a full game) is bad. no one else realize how HORRENDOUS our offense looked in the first quarter under kurt before he got hurt? he was holding the ball too long again. two sacks and one fumble in less than a quarter of work against a defense that hadn't gotten to the qb consistently all season??? hello a lot of kurt!

Cards To Work On Dansby's Contract
Notebook: Warner will be game-time decision in Washington
By DARREN URBAN

Cardinals general manager Rod Graves said he plans to ramp up contract extension negotiations with linebacker Karlos Dansby next week.

Linebacker Karlos Dansby may be on the sideline, but the Cardinals still expect to get a contract extension done with him sooner rather than later.

General manager Rod Graves said he plans on meeting with Dansby’s agent sometime next week “to see if we can get things rolling” on negotiations, and added that the holdup to this point had more to do with the Cards’ roster flux than a willingness to talk contract.

“I wanted to make sure our roster was settled,” Graves said.

The Cardinals have had to unexpectedly sign two quarterbacks the past two weeks after injuries to both Matt Leinart and Kurt Warner.

Dansby is in the final year of his four-year rookie contract. The team’s intent since training camp was to eventually sign Dansby to an extension.

“(The delay) is more of a budgeting issue,” Graves said. “We need to make sure the timing is right.”

Been saying all along it was going to happen during the 2 weeks off during the bye game. Just glad we got confrimation on it. Its their MO every year the last 3-4 years.

Shmo,

What's your take on two issues regarding the Dansby negotiations

1) Dansby's agent is apparently in legal proceedings on the East coast for the next 2 weeks which could stall any possible negotiations
2) The fact that Dansby is currently injured, and may wait til after he is back on the field to negotiate

It would appear that these 2 events would make it difficult for the Cards to "seal the deal" within the next few weeks

Thoughts?

1. Wont effect it. he wont be in legal proceedings every day. 1 day flights will be in order and usually are even when the schedule is wide open. Most deals are done over the phone and faxing proposals back and forth anyways.

2. If it was a major injury it could effect but its only a sprain so I am not so sure it will effect it. It may take a few days longer to get worked out because Graves may start a little lower then he normally would but then again Dansby's thoughts on what he will except may make it a little easier as well since he may want to get a deal done sooner rather then later knowing that he can get injured at any time. In the end dont think it will effect anything as both sides have been saying they want to get a deal since training camp.
