First- the whole plate thing: was it missing a front plate, back plate, both plates. It doesn't really say and alot of drivers don't want a front plate and will not put one on until told to do so. Stupid yes, but hardly anything to make a judgement on Dansby.

Third- There is no mention of alcohol so why bring it up?

Fourth- The officer must have been pretty confortable with Dansby's candor and sited him then let him go on his merry way.

Fifth- You get firearm training so my guess is you probably know the laws better than the average person (as well as being in the military and understanding the consequences of making a bonehead mistake). Basically you have no excuse as to why you were carrying a firearm illegally. I know here in Oregon if I carry my firearm in a vehicle it cannot be load and readilly available.[/QUOTE]

I didn't say anything about the plates. Although there's nothing about alcohol in the article, it's a common assumption for someone out at 2am (unless you're from another planet). And my alcohol reference was more to the effect of "you can drink but not drink and drive, just as you can own a firearm if you do it legaly." And yes he was let go, but he was still cited = (in my case) a loss of sceruity clearance = no job. And I would never, ever put myself in that position, I was just saying that if it had happened to me I'd be screwed. My whol point was that this probably isn't what the kid needs to be doing in a contract year. And hopefully he gets it straight from here on out cause I want him on this team.

Well at least Dansby did everything right when he was pulled over. He could have lied about having a gun and been in real trouble. I'm not concerned with this at all.

There is nothing saying he was carrying without a permit. He just didn't have it stored properly.

maybe dansby just bought the vechile and got tired of waiting in the dmv line for ever. that can explain the reason why he doesn't have any plates. people who drive without plates are usually a bunch of thugs or drugies. so the officer asked if he was carring a firearm. standard procedure in a situation like that. is there any law enforcement officer on this board.

Dansby Arrested?

Cardinals linebacker Karlos Dansby was arrested early last Friday morning and charged with misdemeanor possession of a weapon.
Dansby was initially pulled over for speeding and having no license plate, and revealed he had an unholstered gun, which is against the law in Arizona. He faces a maximum of one year in jail and a $2,500 fine, but was agreeable with police so it's likely his punishment will be reduced.
