Injuries

KD has over compensated for the toe, resulting in a groin injury. I'm afraid that thinking about his groin will result in a brain injury. And you know what those Alabama guys say, don't use brain and Auburn people in the same sentence.

Toe woes keep Dansby out
By Darren Urban, Tribune
August 12, 2006

Cardinals linebacker Karlos Dansby, currently undergoing physical therapy in Scottsdale, will travel to Alabama today to have his sore big toe looked at by a specialist.

With the Cardinals’ blessing, Dansby will see Dr. Angus McBryde, a member of orthopaedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews’ sports medicine center.

“We’ll see if I need surgery or not,” Dansby said in the Cards’ locker room after the team’s preseason win Saturday against Pittsburgh. “I don’t think I will need it.”

Dansby said he thinks it is a ligament problem in the toe, and that overcompensating for the toe injury, which he suffered last year, has led to a groin injury. He has yet to practice during training camp. Dansby left camp early last week to rehab his injuries in the Valley, and the physical therapy has helped.

“(The Cardinals) understand the situation,” Dansby said. “Everything is good (between he and the team). The communication is there. I’m just trying to get right.”

PACE ON PACE

Calvin Pace called his debut as a linebacker “cool,” but acknowledged he still has a way to go before making a total transition from defensive end.

“There were some points where I was off-balance,” Pace said. “There are some things I want to work on. But all in all, played pretty good.”

Coach Dennis Green called Pace “disruptive” even though Pace didn’t make any significant plays.

“You see so many different things, you have to react on the run,” Pace said. “I think the preseason will help me out a lot.”

SHORT UP FRONT

With the knee injury to starting right tackle Oliver Ross, the Cards couldn’t shuffle their offensive line as much as they wanted. Jeremy Bridges started at right tackle and played a large part of the game.

“I hadn’t gotten a lot of reps at right tackle, so it was good to get live work,” said Bridges, who played guard the past two seasons. “It felt good to be back home — I call it home, because that’s how I think of playing tackle. I love dancing with the (defensive) ends.”

Fred Wakefield did get to play right tackle early in the game with the rest of the starting line while Green determines if he or Bridges should be the starter. Wakefield also worked at left tackle when starter Leonard Davis came out.

RING OF HONOR

Eight former Cardinals were inducted into the team's Ring of Honor Saturday. They are: longtime owner Charles W. Bidwill Sr., the father of Bill Bidwill; quarterback Charley Trippi; running back Ollie Matson; fullback Ernie Nevers; cornerback Dick ‘‘Night Train’’ Lane; quarterback/coach/owner Jimmy Conzelman; quarterback John “Paddy” Driscoll; and halfback/defensive back Marshall Goldberg.

EXTRA POINTS

The only injury the Cards reported Saturday was a concussion to rookie defensive end A.J. Schable. . . .

Veteran Troy Walters was impressive in his bid to grab the punt returner job, averaging 15.3 yards on three returns. J.J. Arrington returned two kickoffs for a 24.0-yard average. . . .

Receiver Bryant Johnson had a spectacular one-handed catch for 20 yards to convert a third down on the Cards’ second touchdown drive. All three of Johnson’s receptions (for 42 yards) came on third down.

“That’s just the way the ball bounces,” Johnson said.

Now a groin injury?! How can these injuries keep surfacing when he isn't doing anything?

Damn good point. The hell with Dansby if this is his attitude. Pace played exceptionally well yesterday in run support at SLB. If Dansby doesn't want to be part of this team, then the hell with him. We'll win without him.

New England won a Super Bowl without Terry Glenn, we can make the playoffs without Karlos Dansby.

The entire Colts Defensive line was out with injuries last week. I wonder if they are going to cut all of them.

Dansby will be back and we'll have a dynomite group of linebackers. Maybe.

That's believable, because Dansby plays like he loves it. I really have a hard time believing that he's been dogging it. He's dinged up, get over it.

He's a playmaker pure and simple, and, if he's healthy, to not have him on the field is insanity.

For his excellent play the last two years, he deserves the beneift of the doubt.

People need to get off Dansby's back. No one wants to sit out unless they have to. The guy is hurt. He'll be back making plays in week 1 and everyone will posting what a monster he is. Next thing you know there will be people worrying about James' -2 yards rushing.

After I heard about his hamstring and the way they subsequently backed off talking smack on him, ala insiders said it wasn't as bad as it was being made out to be, then I think I felt we all were being too hard on the guy.

Nagging injuries need rest, he's getting it checked out, until he misses a bunch of live action or holds out for more money I think everyone should chill a little on him.
