I don't remember where I read it, but the writer stated something like Dansby is the best LB behind (whoever the writer felt was best) can't remember. Seems to me, at least of late, that that is not overstating his abilities. Where does he rank among today's LB's??????

he's the second coming of Wilbur Marshall. Been saying that since his first year. The guy is probably, our best football player - period. On D he can get to the QB, stuff the run and defend the pass. That's insane... really insane.

It is such a subjective position that alot depends on scheme and personell; its tough to compare because there is alot more than just stats taht can go into effecting a play. He definitely should be considered in the top ten because he does make so many plays around the ball and he does cause so many turnovers.

Of course the obvious question is his new contract (which I know has been beat to death). Do we give him a contract that compares to Lewis, Urlacher, ?????

Dansby is making A LOT more plays than Urlacher this year.

if we don't, someone will. He'll be one of the top defensive players in FA. Ask Baltimore and NE how that whole losing/getting Adalius Thomas thing is working out for them.

I look at it this way - the Cards got VERY generous (meaning relatively cheap for their performance) deals with AW, Dockett and Q, which means if they have to balance that out with a big-deal for Dansby, theyhave the room to do it. I'll say it once, I'll say it again, the guy is our best player/playmaker on Defense and he's a young pup who's only gonna get better. You can't let him get away and if it means you have to overpay a little? Well, that's what you do since you decided to wait as long as we have, even though he's been our best consistent playmaker on D since he got on the team.

Totally agree with this statement... There is no sound reasoning as to why Dansby should not be locked up.... none...
The Cards have done a very good job in locking up a nucleus of great players (Q, DD, AW...). Losing Dansby would essentially destroy all of that good...
Sure, he's got the injury bug. And I have been a steady critic of this issue with him. Even yesterday he missed some plays (still waiting to here what his prognosis really is) with a banged up left shoulder... The guy seems to get nicked in just about every game he starts...
BUT - he's a HUGE force. A HUGE playmaker and a rare talent. No excuses Cards... Pay the man and lock his ass up - NOW!

I hope the Mods don't read this, project a bunch of Rod Graves attacks into what we're saying, start a new forum for those perceived attacks to make an example of people and then delete that forum when people actually start using it. That was really confusing last week. :)

I agree, he is only 25 and should have at least 4-5 more highly productive years. For once the Cardinals drafted a guy in the second round and he is turning into a very productive player!!!

Pay him top two or three. Even number one, if only by a little. In a couple of years when he is producing for us he won't even be top five.

I agree that they need to lock him up ASAP. I wonder how much more it's really going to cost the team by waiting, though. If they had extended him last year for less, playing at this level I could see him complaining this offseason that he needs a new contract and missing the OTAs, etc. Does anyone think he'd be content now with anything he signed prior to this season?

I don't see Q or AW or Dockett complaining, even though each of them has pretty much played above their contracts.

Dansby will get his contract, it's a fait accompli at this point.

I agree with the top playmaker and he should get a good contract. He is somewhat injury prone though and that is a concern.

Cheese, you should probably let this one go...

It wasn't the mods, it was the administrator/owner.

I think his pass coverage ability is what really sets him apart. He looks more like a safety than a LB when he drops back. I'd go so far as to compare him to Derrick Brooks in that regard.

Our players are all pretty good about that. We're just like the Patriots, minus the winning. :D
