I don't think it's the deepest. This draft would be about Rose & Beasley. That's it.

i think you're seriously sleeping on some talent in kids like bayless, mayo, gordon, and lopez. those kids will be all-stars at some in their careers imo, even if it's just once (for lopez).

Every draft is differnt. In some years there is a very strong top and then a cliff. In other years, there is a good but not great top with the middle being OK.

2003 had a very good top: LeBron, Carmlo, Bosh and Wede. That year the middle was a mess but the late first round very strong and a prety good second round. 2002 had some good picks scatterd through out the first round and bunch of clunkers.

This year has a bunch of guys who would have been drafted a year ago and in many cases are being targeted because of the HS reputations. Take nbadraft.net: their first seven guys are freshmen.

In the entire first round, they list only three juniors 3 seniors, some Euros, and a guy who played minor league ball. Overall there are 11 freshmen and 19 Sophmores.

I think the strength will show more in the second round than anything. While I'd like the Suns to move up from 48, I think there is a very good chance of getting somebody who will stick even there.

I really want what Nash wants. Although he really represents the Suns to me, I would accommodate him if he wanted to move elsewhere. It seems the identity of the past Suns has disintegrated anyway. I couldn't blame him if he wanted to make a move.

Was wondering if anyone had considered the idea that Nash may very well want to leave. I'd be surprised if he didn't.

Leave the team that drafted and rebirthed him into a two time MVP through an offense completely catered to his abilities? That would be very barkley-esque of him.

Hate to drop the news on you but barkley had his best years just before he was traded to the suns. And if I was steve nash I'd realize that the arrival of shaq was the beginning of deconstructing the system that made him MVP.

Sure he does, the ditching of the 3pt shooters(JR, TT, house, Marion) and the arrival of shaq has clogged the lane for Nash, and slowed down the game alot. He will not be able to perform up to his potential now. the suns no longer run the ball well, the spurs out ran them(fast break points) in the playoffs by a wide margin. the suns used to kill the heat with shaq by running, its a weakness the suns now have.

Didn't the Suns already trade Nash for a 9th pick?

The NBA seems to disagree. 1993 MVP ring a bell?

Nash was very good on the Mavs before he came back to phx as well.

I dont disagree that barkley rocked faces in Philly, and maybe barkley wasnt as 'rebirthed' as Nash seemed to be, but Barkley has his best season in phoenix as far as impacting the game goes.

Barkleys career highs in scoring 28.3, FG%, 60%, rebounding, 14.6, all came with the 76ers

His suns bests were scoring 25.6, FG% 52%, rebounding 12.2 were quite a bit off.

Charles shot better than 54.5% FG's for his first 8 years with a high of 60%, his suns numbers were telling 52, 50, 49, 49. And he never shot better than 52% after joining the suns, for the rest of his career, thats called a slide. His career average 54.1% FG's he never even achieved as a sun.

Charles scored 28.3 ppg in 1988 and shot 59%, more efficient than amare has been to date. Plus charles rebounded the ball in a way amare never has.

http://www.nba.com/history/players/barkley_stats.html

Being from philadelphia, I watched charles whole career. Regardless of the MVP, he was already on the downside when he came to PHX. We all know no matter how good you are you cant win the MVP unless your team is challenging for a title.

Sorry but i beg to differ. Our backcourt is what needs to be rebuilt IMO. Bell isn't a quality starter anymore IMO. Barbosa & Nash are sieves on the defensive end. This core group is old and slow(-Amare) and a few of our key guys seem to have the term "can't win the big game" imprinted on their brain from the D'Antoni experience:bang:.

Ok....starting lineup scenario #12,344,567,899

If the SUNS could find a way to get Artest without losing Bell i'd be pulling a Tom Cruise on my couch.
NASH
HILL/BELL( I like Hill at the 2 but thats just me. Bell vs the quicker matchups)
ARTEST
STAT
SHAQ
Nobody's gonna F with that starting lineup.
Bench: BELL,GIRICEK,SKINNER,DJ,TUCKER,draft pick(backup PG)

Barbosa/Diaw/cash/gorilla/my ex-girlfriends phone #,and a microphone to KINGS for Ron Ron.

My Dream Team, Shaq, Amare, Artest, Bell and Nash, Nobody would F with that team, it wouls shed the Suns soft label

I would rather eat dog poo than watch a trade that moves Nash for a draft pick, Adam ****ing Morrison, a lesser PG, and a big stiff.

No way in hell.

You just gave away a two time allstar for sub-par role players.

Completely unacceptable.

My gawd, we just agreed 100% on something. Adam Morrison is not even a good enough NBA player to make any decent team's bench. Yech.

However, I'm with those who would deal Steve Nash away if we could get some decent young prospects for him. If Porter starts emphasizing team defense more, Steve Nash's presence on the floor becomes less needed or desirable

Morrison is a player that has never impressed me. I don't understand those who would want him for the Suns.

Please. I'd jump on that Bobcats trade. Felton is a young PG and would thrive under Porter's tutelage. I would, however, require Carroll over Harrington. Nash for #9/Carroll/Mohammed definitely looks attractive. Then I'd send Barbs out for a swing player (ie, Artest), draft DeAndre Jordan at #9 and Brandon Rush at #15.

Felton-Rush-Artest-Stoudemire-Shaq

Bell-Carroll-Diaw-Hill-Jordan-Strawberry-Tucker-Skinner-Mohammed

I'm all in on that.
