I can't help but feel for D'Antoni having to mold the players in NY into his system. Of course everyone knows I am a D'Antoni fan but here is a tidbit I found interesting in the article from Paul Coro in the Arizona Republic.

Life should be good. His family lives outside the city in Rye but near the Knicks' two-court training center where chefs make breakfast and lunch daily. He heads into the city only for home games, and a personal driver takes him there. Surpass more than last season's 23 wins, and it's an improvement.

Instead, D'Antoni was on the defensive four games into his stay. He again is forced to convince observers that he is not in a rift with his general manager. He has to ride this team until a bloated payroll can be remade. He has to swallow losing Jared Jeffries, who he saw as his Boris Diaw-type center until he broke his leg. After practices, the only Knicks player interviewed is Marbury.

I wonder if NY would be interested in Diaw?

About three weeks after we played San Antonio, I was on a plane going to New York, and I looked around and go, 'How'd we get here?' " D'Antoni said. "I don't know what happened. Probably too much emotion on my part. Too much whatever. Coaches are right that when the season's over, you should take a month vacation and then come back and decide what to do.

How about when you told your boss to stop telling you how to run an offense? Or not practicing defense?

Hindsight is 20/20 and I think Mike is starting to regret his decision.

The only player on the Knicks with a comparable salary is Eddy Curry. 3 years left, 9.7M, 10.5M and 11.275M. Boris 4 years left, 9M per.

The Knicks are 4-2 so far and his current lineup isn't as good as what he had here but they're still putting up some points. The East has some good teams but he doesn't have to go through the Spurs and Lakers in the playoffs. He's probably not regretting it that much.

Well the Suns could save a year on Boris' salary which overall saves some bucks in the long run. How about if the Knicks threw in a first round draft pick and whatever is allowable in cash. The Suns would certainly have the beef up front with Shaq and Curry. Seriously, I haven't been following Curry so there must be some reason he is not playing as his stats are not that bad. However, I'm fairly sure the Suns would not do it with Lopez on board.

Anyone know why Curry is in such disfavor. Is he lazy, slow, injured, TO prone, has a bad attitude or what? It seems not long ago Tyson Chandler was written off by teams.

This is what D'Antoni does. No one should be surprised at the success this team will have this year in terms of getting wins.
Wake me when the Knicks win a playoff series ok D'Antonites.

The Suns had their eyes on the prize.

The Knicks are trying to advance from the bottom.

D'Antoni had one exceptional strong point (scoring) and some exceptional weak points (defense; utilizing a bench), which, on average, put him in the middle.

Middle to the Knicks is a step up. In terms of expectations, I don't think he's regretting it at all.

After benching Curry against Boston on Tuesday night due to his lack of conditioning, lax work habits and underwhelming play in preseason

"It didn't take one day to get out of the rotation," D'Antoni said Thursday after practice in Greenburgh. "It's not gonna take one day to get in, either."

Here's more on Curry
"Eddy Curry's right knee has become so painful, he needed a cortisone shot Friday. It's a troubling development in the Knicks' bid to trade their outcast 6-foot-11 center.
Curry's bruised knee has him out indefinitely. He was inactive during the Knicks' 107-99 victory over the Jazz yesterday, and has been inactive the past four games. Despite having three years left on his deal, Curry has drawn interest from the Bobcats and Spurs, but this injury could dampen the enthusiasm of those teams.
"It's pretty sore right now," Curry said.
Curry said he has no idea when he will be able to practice again, and it's looking like a longshot he will play for the team this season. Curry said the bone bruise occurred during preseason after taking two hits to the knee - from Quentin Richardson in practice and Robin Lopez during a Nets' game.
Curry did not make the rotation and hasn't played a minute this season. The knee became swollen in preseason and was drained before the opener.
The Knicks kept it quiet, probably because of his on-the-block status.

Under D'Antoni's briliant guidance, Jared Jeffries will be an All-Star center for the Eastern Conference within three seasons. Write it down.

More than half the teams in the conference will make the playoffs....it ain't that huge. Its not like there's been zero talent there either....just the wrong talent led by the wrong people.
The regular season is D'Antoni's oyster & his system dictates success there. I still think he knew that Chicago was the obvious best destination for him but his ego was bruised when they dropped the ball & he took the next best job.....

To get to the playoffs, NY would have to win around 15-20 more games than they did last season with virtually the same roster. Very few teams accomplish that in a single season without making any significant roster changes.

Yep, but dont think you can convince a Dantoni "expert" like Mojo. He even thinks he was privy to the specifics of the coaching offers and DA motivation for taking his new job. Some people just know it all, like mojo saying before the season Barbs should start for the suns at SG, LOL at that one!

Barbosa also missed training camp but i suppose thats a moot point.
Isn't it common knowledge that the Bulls owner sat on his hands at offering D'Antoni the job? Thats a real question smart ass.

Apparently smarter than you, clamoring for defense all the while proposing LB for the starting '2', LMAO! As far as common knowledge, thats your assumption, you assume you know specifics. this is the same team(bulls) that let Phil Jackson walk and hired the likes of Vinny Del negro and scott skiles.

If you think Porter, coming in as a defensive coach would start the "sieve" LB at SG, you are beyond reason. Even DA knew LB was a defensive time bomb, other wise he would have started him over Raja.

Plus he can't play defense to save his life, can't really jump and has an unknown/undisclosed heart condition. :bhiich:

Besides this and everything previously mentioned, what's his problem? :D
