Q - 6yrs 52mill

D - 6yrs 48mill

i know darius was "never available" but after i saw how cheap the blazers signed him for it makes me wonder if we ever couldve had a shot at him.
i havent seen alot of Q but i did watch darius up in portland (when i lived there) and he was 1 of 2 reasons why the blazers were in the playoff hunt at the end of the year (theo ratliff being the other.) he played great off the bench and eventually earned the starting spot over SAR. i know this is all in hindsight now but i think miles would have helped us alot more off the bench than Q. im a little tenative myself about Q because every clipper fan seems to say the same thing about him...he hasnt a lick of D and jacks up shots like theres no tommorrow. on the other hand luckily for us we have steve nash who can get everyone plenty of touches in case someone starts feeling leftout. i guess i feel like miles would have
1.) probablly played within the system a little bit better
2.) given us another big rebounding body (altough you could argue Qs rebounding)
3.) shored up a position we really needed to fill instead of jamming our backcourt up.

anyways my point to this thread is ......if you had the choice to sign either of those guys , who would you choose? i know some of you are pretty tempramental(sp) about playing fantasy GM on this board but i was just kind of curious if anyone was thinking the same thing as me?

btw obviously im new....i came over from the espn boards cause im tired of trolls, bush, kerry, white basketball, black basketball, and anything that falls in between. my spelling and grammer is that of a 2nd grader if not worse so please go easy on me. but i love the suns ....so there:p

I thought Q got 6yrs/42-46M$.

I think it's an easy decision. Right now Q is clearly the better and more mature player it looks like and about to marry which should help him mature really.
Miles might have more long term "potential".

Q has a jumper. His 3 point shooting is pretty good (albeit he is a little streaky). However, this Suns team was abysmal from 3 point last year and we really had no threat other than Casey Jacobsen, who I believe preferred driving to the basket over shooting off of screens. I think Q will help us a lot in this department. We already have a great slasher and scorer that doesn't have a jump shot in Marion.

I take Q over Miles. I like the low-post game, rebounding and toughness. And the depth at the 2 and 3 he gives us. I think the intangibles are better with Q as well.

I'd take Q's ability to make 1.8 3PTers/game (Barbosa lead team at 1.2, last year) at .35 pct, post-up game, and rebounding at SG.

IMO Miles can't play SG and with JJ's ability to move to SF, with Cabarkapa on roster (at both F positions) - Q was more needed than a strictly SF.

Nash made 1.3 3PTers/game (which would've lead team) at .41 pct. With Jacobsen at 1.0 3PTers.game at .41 pct and Barbosa at 1.2 3PTers/game at .40 pct - Marion and Johnson being the weakest shooters at wing... just year before (Marion at .39 pct and Johnson at .37 pct). The Suns have some shooters, to space floor for Hellboy

Nice work on the stats BbaLL_31. I think Steve Nash alone tremendously improves the Suns' outside shooting not to mention his leadership and point guard abilities to make this team explosive. I think the Suns will be able to space the floor nicely for Hellboy. This teams is also tremendously athletic with lots of depth particularly at the 1, 2 and 3 positions.

I very well think quality depth will win alot of games for the Suns... kind of like a boxer that has some staying power in the late rounds.

I definitely would chose Q over Darius as the Suns do not need another slashing small forward although Darius is very talented.

Anyone else think that the Suns are gearing toward a more international style of play and that the Suns had already seen the writing on the wall?

If Suns add Scott Williams - the PF spot becomes deep as well?

Stoudemire, Lampe(F/C), Hunter(F/C), Cabarkapa, Vroman, and Marion.

Suns would still need to avoid an injury to Hellboy though (talentwise) but 6 deep...

The great thing about Q for the Suns is that he's already pretty well-rounded, and he seems smart. He should be able to contribute in a positive way immediately off the bench, and he probably won't need a bunch of spare minutes to keep improving.

Miles is the better physical specimen and an awesome defender, but IMO he still needs a lot of minutes to finish growing up (on the court). The Suns have too many guys like that on their bench already.

Miles played well for a few months in Portland, but he really stunk the place up in Cleveland. On a team that was notably weak at SF, he averaged only 24 minutes with the Cavs.

Q's overall shooting is weak, but 35.2% for three is light years better than Miles 17.5%.

The key question is whether Q will play better defense on a deep Suns team with strong playoff potential when compared to the dismal Clippers. He has the athleticism and his 1.03 steals per game is not bad. Miles did not have much of a reputation as a defender when he was with the Cavs either.
