"There was a small stat change from the Super Bowl but it resulted in a big deal for Cardinals defensive tackle Darnell Dockett. Early in the game, with the Steelers having a third-and-1, Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was originally credited with a scramble that gained no yards. After further review, the play was changed to a sack by Dockett.

This is noteable because it gives Dockett -- who had a great game -- three sacks for the Super Bowl, tying Green Bay's Reggie White for most sacks in a Super Bowl. White had three against New England in Super Bowl XXXI.

He's been my favorite player all year. I just wish he a dominant NT next to him and he could unleash hell in the backfield.

Pendy has nothing to do with Dock being a monster. But I'll play. Damn that Pendy soft cover...if he'd had played his coverage guys better, Darnell would have had more time to get 5 sacks!

:p

Major kudos to DD...had one hell of a good year.

I don't think you can give an individual player props while disparaging the defense as a whole, nor can you disparage players while giving props to the defense. The two are intertwined and it's not nearly as black and white as one might gather from reading this board.

Next season we will have a healthy Watson next to him.. I won't go so far as to call Gabe dominant, but having a full off season without injury will make a big difference.

Yeah, I don't know why he gets so much time on the defense. I like the idea of the big nickle, but Francisco isn't the guy to do it.

I still say bring in Mike Brown from Chicago. That'll give us 2 starter-quality SS to do it with, and free up Rolle to play more of a roaming ball-hawk position out of that formation.

They are intertwined, but your "all or nothing" approach is as flawed as my "blame it all on Pendy's ridiculous sideline shriveling" approach.

Typical Dockett. Only a monster in primetime. Had 3 sacks in SB yet only managed four sacks all year long! WOOHOO!

I'm glad someone else said it. I thought he had a so-so year and wondered at times if he was sulking b/c he didn't get paid. I certainly hope I'm wrong but he sure seems to be an absolute beast when he wants to be (Dallas game comes to mind).

What are you talking about, DDogg? I'm saying it's not all DD and it's not all Pendy. I'm saying they work in concert.

What I meant was your suggestion that you can't diss a player and compliment the defense, or diss the defense and compliment a player. You have to take them all together, as a unit. Nothing else. All together, or nothing.

While yes, they all do play together, one guy freelancing or not pulling his weight, or overmatched, or placed/schemed incorrectly can bring them all down. So you can call out a player for being bad, or a coach for calling bad schemes, or recognize when a player goes above and beyond. You can say "that's a bad player on a good defense" or "that's a great player on a clueless defense" even if they are all part of a unit.

Anyway, Pendy sucks and is useless and has never met a scheme he didn't like unless the game was on the line, then only the soft, deep, cover your head and watch them torch you. The talent of the players' is what is keeping his job. He also looks like a blueberry and his hair...looks...stupid.

Alan Branch is a bust.

Hes the left tackle version of Leonard Davis on defense.

Ive given up all hope on him, and ive heard numerous times that the coaching staff has as well. Very immature.
