Reports are that the Eagles have been fielding trade offers for RB/KR/PR Darren Sproles and in light of those trade discussions Sproles is holding out from OTAs.

His salary for 2016 is $3.5M and he becomes a UFA in 2017.

How about trading Andre Ellington for Sproles?

Ellington is in the final year of his rookie contract and perhaps could see the field more in Philly. Meanwhile Sproles would be a boon as the #3 RB because, unlike Ellington, he is a major factor on STs. Hey----the Cardinald would finally have a consistent difference maker as the punt returner.

Your thoughts?

No. We have depth lets keep it. Sproles still has some left in the tank but Ellington is a dynamic back receiving. Plus he's a home run threat.

We have only 4.6 million in cap space according to Over the cap.

I doubt we sign/trade anyone including Freeney because of this.

No way!

Ellington is way cheaper and we need the cap space for other positions.

still have that mythical rework of Campbells contract to consider....or not....

my guess is that the reason he took so long to find an agent is because he likes his money right where it is...and if we manage to win a SB...his price tag may go up...even at his age.

I would do it if we had the CAP space. Juke has basically been all potential so far and Sproles is proven and is still a dynamic PR.

I'd do it. I like AE but I'm tired of waiting for him to stay healthy

I like the idea. But with it being Ellington's contract year, any time you can have somebody with his talent for 1/2 mil, playing for his livelihood, it's hard to let that go. It's probably the best year to have him.

In a heartbeat! Sproles is tough as nails, and still seems to have some gas left in the tank. And we can use all the help we can get on ST's, which were DREADFUL last year. Do it!

The problem is despite his ability for a big play or talent when's he gonna play? 6-7 plays a game? I'll take Sproles & his ST ability over Dre any day & we haven't even talked about his inability to run between the tackles or stay healthy...something the little man has proven he can do.

The Cards chances of winning a SB with Sproles IMO are better than with Dre. Mitch is dead on with this one!

Just like Fitz he isn't going to just take less money. All you are doing is pushing the cap hell to the next season.

Would I do it? Yes I would plan on just sucking total ass in 2 years and say that is our window. I just don't think the Cardinals want that. They want to be consistently competitive now.

And that may trump further tinkering from the roster. Ultimately we have drafted a lot of young defenders in the last 2 years. At least 2 of them need to be impact players this year.

The laundry list of really good players heading for FA next year is almost mind boggling.....

Ellington is on the books for $1.7 mil this season.

He has to stay healthy first, but generally, I agree. A motivated, healthy AE could be a dangerous weapon.

As for Sproles, even with Ellington's contract off the books, it pushes us close to the cap with Freeny left to re-sign (hopefully). In a vacuum, I'd rather have Sproles, but the numbers make it improbable.

We'll have some spending $$ too. Fitz and Campbell will both need to sign for less between 7-8M per to stay imo. Fitz should do that. Not so certain about CC.

I was thinking about how Sproles could or might fit into the Cardinals offense. He is durable and AE is injury prone.

Then I thought about fudge and how I don't care for it. It's got to be the texture of it because I don't mind some on a sundae.

Then I thought about Sunday not spelled like sundae then got a phone call.

He wouldn't be collecting less than the present $9.5m in year one of a new deal. Apart from locking him up, the new deal would lower his 2016 CAP hit.
