4 YPC. this year 4.3 or about 2 yards less per carry than Peterson.

that kind of provges my point thx Russ. Nobody here can tell me that Chester Taylor is a berrer RB than Edgerrin James. Yet Chester Taylor averaged 4 YPC last year in the NFL where edge only averaged like 3.4 YPC. You would think the play of teh OL has something to do with the disparity.

Im not saying that Adrian Peterson wouldnt be a star here by any means because he would. But for anyone to say his line isnt a better run blocking line IMO is wrong.

why? You do realize that 4.0 average was below Taylor's career average and much below his average for every season save his rookie year, right?

Are you asking why is he not as good as Edgerrin James?

Look at his career as a whole. I understand that he has had a great YPC average over his career. But he was always doing it in a back-up role with limited #'s of carries to base it off. He was the back-up/change of pace RB in NY behind Curtis Martin. I would be willing to bet I could find several Back-up RB's that have great YPC averages but just aren't "the man" Michael Turner in SD comes to mind too.

His first full year as a starter he averaged 4.0 Yards a carry which is good but its not HOF good which Edge outside of last year has been consistently above for his entire career. Do you really believe that Chester Taylor is in the same talent echelon as Edge?

no he wasn't. He played in Baltimore and when given the chance to start, usually played very well.

uh, where did I say anything about Edge? I'm saying I think people overrate that Vikings offensive line, considering that whenver given the chance, be it in a change of pace role or as a starter - that when Taylor got carries, he produced at a great rate than he did last year behind the Vikes.

Your right he was back-up in Baltimore. Same point still applies. He was a back-up change of pace back in Baltimore.

and when given the chance to start, he put up very impressive numbers, none of which he matched behind a decent at best O-line in Minnesota. That's the point Shane. Why you somehow threw the "Cheese is saying Taylor's as good as Edge" comment is beyond me.

Thats what it sounded like in your post. When you said why? It seemd like why did I think that Chester Taylor wasnt as good as edge.

reading comp's been pretty tough for you today, huh?

Do you realize the Minnesota rushing attack was ranked 16th last year? Averaging 113 yards per game? How some people dubbed their O-line GREAT based on that I have no idea.

I dont think they are great. I dont believe I ever said that. But I do believe they are better than ours. Oh and apparently reading comp. has been a problem with me for awhile. :)

that's why I said "some people" and not you. I do believe they were better than ours last year, but that ain't saying much. This year, I believe they're being made to look great by a phenomenal running back, much like LT has consistently done for SD teams that never drafted linemen high or Barry did for the Lions who never had highly touted lines.

theres no doubt there is a ton of talent on the Vikes OL with Mckinney and Hutch. but you are right AP is a S-T-U-D

Yep and again as I pointed out earlier, nobody plays the Vikings has any fear of them throwing the ball so it makes AP's numbers even more impressive.

I can live with it for the reason I stated earlier, if we had picked him I have no idea what we'd do now with Edge and his contract because he'd have been untradeable.

Now if I really want to a jerk I'd point out if we had picked AP, that when Cadillac got hurt we could have held Tampa Bay hostage in a trade for Edge but since neither team could have absorbed the caphit that is probably untrue.
