Date Night

Release Date: April 9, 2010
Studio: 20th Century Fox
Director: Shawn Levy
Screenwriter: Josh Klausner
Genre: Comedy
MPAA Rating: PG-13 (for sexual and crude content throughout, language, some violence and a drug reference)
Website: DateNightthemovie.com

Starring: Steve Carell, Tina Fey, Mark Wahlberg, James Franco, Leighton Meester, Common, Taraji Henson, Kristen Wiig, Ray Liotta, Mila Kunis, Mark Ruffalo, William Fichtner, Olivia Munn

Plot Summary: Phil and Claire Foster are a sensible, loving couple with two kids and a house in suburban New Jersey. The Fosters have their weekly "date night" -- an attempt at re-experiencing the spice of the dates of yesteryear, involving the same weekly night out at the local Teaneck Tavern. Their conversations quickly drift from barely-date talk to the same chore-chat they have at the dinner table at home. Exhausted from their jobs and kids, their dates rarely end in fore- or any other kind of play, let alone romance. After seeing two of their best friends -- another married couple with kids in suburban New Jersey -- split apart from living the same life they themselves lead, Phil and Claire begin to fear what may lie ahead: a state of bland indifference and eventual separation. In an attempt to take date night off auto-pilot, and hopefully inject a little spice into their lives, Phil decides a change of plans is in order: take Claire into Manhattan to the city's hottest new restaurant. The Fosters, however, don't have reservations. Hoping to be seated sometime before the clock strikes twelve, they steal a no-show couple's reservations. What could it hurt? Phil and Claire are now the Tripplehorns. The real Tripplehorns, however, it turns out, are a thieving couple who are being hunted down by a pair of corrupt cops for having stolen property from some very dangerous people. Forced on the run before they've even finished their risotto, Phil and Claire soon realize that their play-date-for-parents has gone awry, as they embark on a wild and dangerous series of crazy adventures to save their lives -- and their marriage.

Went and saw this today as I'm aways up for a comedy.

It was good. Nice to see a comedy that wasn't totally based on shock value. Steve and Tina worked well together. Their normal life pretty much could pass as my family life which was funny in itself.

It was entertaining and had some good laughs. A good "date night" film for you and your other half.

Totally agree. This was really good. The chemistry between those two was awesome. The Strip club dance scene had tears in my eyes I was laughing so hard! Recommend to all!

This was a fun and hilarious movie, nothing less nothing more. I will probably get this on DVD when it comes out. Steve Carell is just... comedy. And I want to be friends with Tina Fey.

I love Fey and Carell. I just cannot see the point of seeing this in the movies.

Just watched it. Funny. Good mix of silly comedy with a little bit of reality of family life. I could totally relate to their conversation in the car. We've had that exact conversation several times.

The dance scene was worth the price of admission alone. Although my favorite scene was probably the one with James Franco & Mila Kunis. Outstanding.

Yeah, pretty disappointing. A few laughs, but not enough to recommend. A waste of Carrell and Fey's talents with a very weak script.
That is what I thought. When they repeated the same bit in a restaurant twice in the same first 20 minutes, I knew it was going to be bad.

Just saw this movie for the first time tonight. I liked it. While overall I'd say the plot was pretty silly, the movie was still very funny. Tina and Steve worked well together and I bought them as a married couple with common problems. They're both really funny and I thought there while the plot was dumb, there were enough laughs in this movie to keep me watching.

Side note, and since this movie has been out forever I dont think I need the spoiler button, but I thought some of the funniest scenes were with Marky Mark. lol

"Where did you get all this stuff?"
"Radio Shack."
"Really?"
(Laughing) "No not really, what's wrong with this guy???"

For various reasons, that was hilarious. :raccoon: Franco and Kunis were also pretty funny.

However the hardest I laughed was when Steve Carell said:

Carell: "I dont even know how to respond to that. F-U!" (he literally says F-U)
Franco: "F-U?"
Carell: "F-U mother-effer!"

LOL

I read them in Bert's post.

So you missed entire delivery, facial expressions and context of the scene. thus you cant stand by anything! ;)

BTW funnniest scene was at the end!

Yeah, this was in no way a great movie. But still funny.

Marky Mark without his shirt on in every scene was pretty hilarious.
