Got this off the Showcase site of Baas. He looks like a tough SOB.
That is what we are lacking on the interior line.

I don't know who Michigan was playing, but Baas was man-handling those guys! He looks like a good pulling guard also. I agree that he would be a great second round pick if he drops that far. I don't know where he is projected to go in the draft.

He is suppose to go in the 2nd round. I like his smash mouth type of play and his attitude of take no prisoner attitude. We have been lacking that kind of attitude on the line for some time and its about time we start.
If we get Henry in the Trade you go with the BPA in the 1st (Johnson) if he is not there then its Rolle or Pack-Man.

Dayum, house of pancakes. He looks mobile, too. All those highlights looked pretty much like the same game, wonder what team/conference they were playing.

TSN War Room analysis
Run blocking: Takes excellent angles to defenders. Shows outstanding initial quickness. Plays with balance and body control. Shows excellent short-area power. Has an explosive hand punch. Lacks massive bulk and great mobility. Is quick but lacks great speed. Plays with a mean streak. Grade: 7.6.

Pass blocking: Is experienced, durable and technically sound. Gets set quickly in pass protection, and shows excellent stunt/blitz awareness. Uses hands well. Holds his ground against most bull rushers. Is tough and a good leader. Grade: 7.2.

Initial quickness: Shows more quickness than pure speed. Has a quick first step out of his stance. Is adept in tight spaces. Grade: 7.3.

Strength: Is powerful but not a mauler. Plays with good leverage. Lacks ideal lower-body strength; could struggle to push the pile against massive NFL defensive tackles. Grade: 7.2.

Mobility: Rarely misses a linebacker on the second level because of his quickness, angles and awareness. Lack of mobility is evident if asked to cover a lot of ground to lead on a screen pass. Grade: 6.8.

Bottom line: Baas, an All-Big Ten selection his final three seasons, has experience at guard and center. He lacks overwhelming size and has just decent speed and mobility, but he is versatile and experienced. He is technically sound and has good quickness and lateral movement. Baas has solid NFL potential and definitely will be off the board by the end of the second round.

Dan Pompei analysis
Typical Michigan offensive lineman: a hard-nosed, blue-collar, tough guy. Lacks ideal athleticism but makes up for it with effort and intensity. Can maul defenders.

I saw quite a few mauling victims in that video.

New England's offensive line had a second-round pick, a fourth-round pick, and three undrafted free agents. They were also one of the best offensive lines in football last season.

Denny's going to want impact players with his first-day selections. Linebackers, cornerbacks, runningbacks, etc. I'm guessing that an offensive guard near the top of the second stanza isn't going to fit in with those plans. The fact that he's trying out as a center doesn't really help things much.

Every player at every position can't be a first-day pick. That's not how teams are built.

I'd rather have Elton Brown. He's bigger and better than Baas. We have a Baas in Leckey.

That sounds like a little bit of a "bo schembechler has been beating me like a red-headed step child since i could walk and i hate everything michigan whine."

Baas is good, regardless of the beatings you've taken in your rivalry.

The knocks on Brown that I have read are his conditioning, he runs out of gas and takes plays off. He had some character issues (assaulting a fellow student, charges dropped). I did read that if he got himself in shape and became more motivated he could be top 10. In one bio I read, he said the toughest player he faced in college is Darnell Docket! Wish we could get Darnell's take on that.

I was just adding some stuff to the BRS and caught up with the offensive linemen. Going through the players, it became increasingly evident that there were two types of linemen: maulers and finesse guys.

Cardinals need a road-grader to play RG and/or to back up at RT. (Translation: "We don't need no stinkin' finesse guys.")

Consequently, I moved highly-rated guys like Barron T and Brooks G way down the list and elevated maulers like tackles Colmer and Mankins and guards or centers like Baas, Elton Brown, Terrell and "the Kemoeatu Dragon."

(Note - I'm also moving offensive linemen who scored 12 or lower in their Wunderlic because offensive linemen have to master a complicated playbook and blocking assignments & adjustments. The incredible thing about Baas is that he's a mauler, he scored 37 on the Wunderlic and he can play either guard or center.

I like Baas but there are a couple of mock drafts ( I believe TSN's latest) that has him going in the first round. But I also feel that we need 2 DB's, 1 TE and 1 RB, and should wait to take a couple of OL players on Day 2.

I believe Baas is 1-3 against OSU.We don't need losers like that on the Cards. Plus, how can he play next to former Buckeye Stepanovich :D ? I just think Elton Brown is alot better player.
