I too like his smile considering all he has been through. He could be a big part of this team for quite a while.

DJ is really filling a need for us right now. He is a very versatile back with a quick burst of speed. Hope he can continue to grow

This would be one of those times where I am so happy to be so very wrong about a draft pick.

I never really said the guy would be a bust, but I definitely didn't think he would be as good as he has been.

His running style is quite impressive, he is like a faster Eddie George.

Scary thing about Johnson is that he is just a kid. In a few years he will start getting "man strength" and if he keeps his speed, watch out.

He has been the backbone of this team honestly. His clutch plays and to come in and fill the shoes of 2 starters and produce like he has has helped Palmer and the passing game. DJ is solid and I'm so glad he is a Cardinal

It is amazing how stacked this team is with such likable and talented players right now. So many great stories.

In fact, I was reading one about Bethel the other day to see why he went to Presbyterian College and he had ZERO offers to play college ball. He was actually going into the culinary arts, and then his high school coach got the job at Presbyterian and he took his offer to play for him. Amazing that a guy who has Pro Bowl NFL talent, and just got the contract of a starting CB, came so close to missing out on a football career entirely. Makes you wonder how many great guys are out there who we never heard of because they couldn't overcome their troubles or never got a shot.

And great we have a GM/Scouting department that is unafraid to take players from teams without a big name.

Good point, some just develop later than others and make the most of the only shot they get.

Or they sadly throw it away. I remember watching a show about Marshawn Lynch and he said there were athletes better than he was that never made it out of the hood due to drugs and gangs.

I will forever remember his first play as our starting RB. Nooch and I were both concerned how DJ would be in picking up a blitzing defender and keeping him off Carson Palmer. On the first play from scrimmage, with DJ alone in the backfield, a blitzer came flying through a hole in the middle of the line directly at Palmer. DJ just simply stepped in front of the blitzer, met him head on, and unceremoniously dumped the guy over him, sending the blitzer onto the turf, backside first. Nooch and I both leapt out of our chairs and hollered in unison for sheer joy at the great blitz pickup. After that, it was clear that no man who DJ was responsible for touched our QB that day.

His ability to run was not in question. The big concern was his blocking ability in the backfield. He answered that question emphatically time after time that first game, each time dumping the guy he was responsible for onto his backside. It was truly a thing of beauty.

Like all Cardinals' fans, I'm very happy that we have DJ. And going into last year's draft, some of you (and unfortunately I forget which ones were pushing for his selection). But there were so many other backs in the draft, that they made my head spin. I don't know why he lasted until the third round, naturally, happy he did, and give BIG KUDOS to SK for his selection.

I had the same feeling on that first block. He made several great blocks that day.

I had DJ on my shortlist of backs I wanted but then I also have my share of players which don't pan out... but DJ I got right :D
