Vikings 3 1st rounders

1. Big DT Floyd. Don't know why he dropped
2. Best CB X. Rhodes
3. Patterson WR ?????

Patriots

Took 1 late 1st round pick and turned it into 4 lower picks.

+1

Vikings went all in, and got three really good players that will help that team right away.

Wes Welker

5'9"
185 lbs.
4.65 40 yard

Height and weight aren't everything

It is when you play in a division with two of the biggest, strongest CBs in the league, and one of the best defenses in the league 4 times a year, with an average QB throwing you the ball.

I'm really not big on Austin ...... his windows are going to get a lot more narrow, he doesn't exactly present himself as a great target and he's not a grab & go type receiver .... i think he can be somewhat productive given his speed and all, but I don't see him as a huge impact player

I like the spirit of the Vikings moves

Star to Carolina at 14 is incredible for them

I think all the teams that grabbed OL in the top 10 made out pretty well, even if it's in a non-sexy fashion

Atlanta also continues to make themselves a bit more dangerous

As for the hotel room, Floyd wasn't implicated in that .... widely reported that the players were DeAndre Hopkins and Mark Harrison (WR - Rutgers) .... both have denied that they were involved with any damage to the room

Quick Thoughts---Pick by Pick

1. KC---T Fisher: I love the kid and think he will be very good, not great, per se. But very good.

2. JAX---T Joeckel: baby-face and laid back demeanor are deceptive---he is all business on the field.

3. MIA---OLB Jordan: nothing about him reminds me of Jason Taylor who always knew how to set and attack the edge. To me he looks more like Manny Lawson...which isn't bad, but isn't #3 worthy.

4. PHI---T Johnson: perfect fit for Kelly's offense because he can pop and release down field in a flash. Might use him in the red zone as a TE too.

5. DET---DE Ansah: despite his mom saying she wished he would have been taken by a team in Utah, lol, they saw him up close a personal at the senior Bowl all week and saw the extraordinary athleticism that could help turn the Lions' pass rush into the Lion's den.

6. CLE---OLB Mingo: will be very curious to see that Ray Horton does with Mingo and how productive he will be. Has all the tools, but does Mingo have the mindset?

7. AZ---G Cooper: he ain't no Mini-Cooper, he's now a shiny red Maxi-Cooper.

8. STL---WR Austin---the only solace I feel is that the 49ers and Seahawks are going to have find ways to corral him too. Makes me want to draft Honey Cardinal or Darius Slay in a New York minute.

9. NYJ---CB Milliner---can't catch a cold, but can keep the best WR cold for long stretches.

10. TEN---G Warmack---makes Chris Johnson's plight to be the first 3,000 yard rusher a tad more possible. I wonder if the Cardinals got some slightly negative inside info on Warmack from the Bama coach they hired...because he was a man amongst boys in the SEC.

11. SD---T Fluker---memo to CKW: chip with the RB or TE. How history repeats itself, huh? Whiz's first pick in AZ: RT Levi Brown. This said, I like the pick as long as they can help him out versus the better DEs.

12. OAK---CB Hayden---I like the way the Raiders are rebuilding their secondary. Best versatile CB in the draft here.

13. NYJ---DE Richardson---love this pick, imo, one of the best 5 players in the draft.

14. CAR---DT Lotulelei---very good value here, not crazy about his motor, though. Very hot and cold.

15. NO---FS Vacarro---nice fit for their defense, a tad better fit than Jarvis Jones. I give them credit because it must have been a very hard choice.

16. BUF---QB E.J. Manuel---interesting that after all the research and interviewing Gruden did on the QBs, Gruden believes Ryan Nassib to be the best QB, but his college coach goes for Manuel who has greater physical skills, but not the better leadership and decision making skills. Hmmm. That said, is Kevin Kolb now the #2? Did anyone hear DD-90 when asked by MJ about KK yesterday? DD-90 simply said---"ummm, I think I will no comment that one."

17. PIT---OLB Jones---it's amazing to me how the rich get richer standing pat---and how the Cardinals have been a 34 team for six years now and not drafted one legitimate OLB double-digit sack threat---kind of like buying a car in Alaska and declining a 4 wheel drive option.

18. SF---FS Reid---amazing that all they had to give up was one of their two 3rd rounders. Reid is Dashon Goldston Part Deux---big hitter, iffy cover guy in space.

19. NYG---G Pugh---Dallas trades out one spot above and the Giants take their guy! How ironic is that?

20. CHI---G Long---Dallas trades out two spots above and the Bears take their fallback option after Pugh. How ironic is that?

21. CIN---TE Eifert---Seemed perfect for the Bears with ND connections to boot. Talk about a plethora of receiving options in Cincy. Don't be surprised if Cincy winds up in AFC Championship games and possibly a Super Bowl in the near future. Their defense is dang good too. They are the Falcons of the AFC.

22. ATL---CB Trufant---STL gets back what it gave up to move up and the Falcons get the missing piece to their secondary.

23. MIN---DT Floyd---hard to believe he slid this far---got to hand it to Minny, they adjusted to the hand they were dealt and parlayed it into a nifty trifecta.

24. IND---DE Werner---very nice fit for them and Chuck Pagano's defense. The momentum continues in Indy, although it will be interesting to see what their offense looks like sans BA. Wonder if they win all those tight one this year.

25. MIN---CB Rhodes---perfect big CB for that division, part two of the tri-fecta.

26. GB---DE Jones---I thought he was a top 10 pick. He will bring some heat to the frozen tundra.

27. HOU---WR Hopkins---perfect flanker compliment to Andre Johnson. Excellent hands and RAC guy, who is strong against press and in popping open.

28. DEN---DT Williams---really liked him at the Senior Bowl and had him rated very close to Sharrif Floyd, talent-wise and style-wise. It's the quick burst to the ball at that size that jumps out at you.

29. MIN---WR Patterson---still a project, but very hard to tackle in the open field and makes you think twice about pressing him.

30. STL---LB Ogletree---I think he could be a star as a 43 WOLB. Not a 43 MLB, imo. This kid brings it, but alas brings some baggage too. Talent-wise this is a very good pick. Don't sleep on these Rams.

31. DAL---C/G Frederick---bit of a reach here after losing out on stronger guard prospects, but could work out just fine. He's big and tough.

32. BAL---SS Elam---love his energy and big hits, but saw too many missed tackles because of his reluctance to wrap up. They will try to change that part and if anyone can, they can.

Maybe, but when did Welker get drafted? I'll let you think about that.

Even then, when did Welker first get a big contract?

How many little WRs fail in the NFL for every Welker that's successful?

I disagree with people who say that Austin is going to be a "bust." I think he'll get more than 120 receptions over the first two years of his career. But I think he'll be a disappointment as a wide receiver.
