In addition is Doucet harder to unseat for the #3 position than Bryant Johnson?

That's the problem. A 4th WR isn't going to get many balls thrown to him, especially with Warner gone and Wells/Hightower running, so Roberts isn't going to get the chance to show much of anything as a WR in my opinion.

There's no skillet hands Johnson in the #3 slot who has no future with the Cards like when Breaston was a rookie.

It depends on the offense that we're going to be running, I suppose. And if/how far behind we are in games. In 10 games, Urban still managed to get 29 targets last season, and he capitalized on most of them (0 drops).

It took an amazing offseason's work by Breaston to earn his way into the lineup, and a(nother) injury to Anquan Boldin to cement his status as a legit #2. It took a(nother) inury to Anquan Boldin to let the team get somewhat comfortable with Early Doucet as the #3 WR. Andre Roberts will get his chance if he earns it--it's not like Breaston's an irreplaceable player. If the Cards are comfortable with Fitz, Doucet, and like what they see in Roberts, I wouldn't be surprised to see them allow Steve to look for greener pastures in 2011 free agency.

I fully expect the Cardinals to let Breaston walk. Wide receivers like him just seem to be a dime a dozen. I am not trying to imply that he hasn't been a very good player for us. I just know that low round picks don't give discounts, and Breaston will be looking to get paid. Easier to move everybody up in the depth chart and move along.

That's right; this team is going to pay for the lines and the quarterback and the face of the franchise in Larry Fitzgerald. I'm sure Breaston will get a fair offer, but not enough to tempt him to sign in-season.

Unless he gets 1100 yards and 8 TDs, it's going to be hard to make an argument that he deserves to get paid. I'm not sure that he's going to convince some team to pay him $5 million a year.

One other thing that you did not mention that we briefly discussed is that Hall can NOT throw a spiral. Its not like his balls were terrible wobblers, but out of about I would guess 16 throws, not one maintained the same axis.

That's gotta be scary for receivers.

Just a clarification...I meant to say he did not throw a spiral on the long balls that require arc. He is fine with short-medium pass bullets. He looked much better today on the garbage drill than yesterday.

And thats exactly why they drafted the kid. The FA losses will continue...

All that did was get him exiled to Kansas City.

Wide receiver Jerheme Urban is signing with the Chiefs. No surprise. Urban was inactive a lot late in the season, he wasn’t tendered as a restricted free agent and I’m not sure — even if he made the team — he’d get to play much.

You are basically saying the same thing I am that the guys down the depth chart have to have something out of the ordinary occur, Boldin's injury for instance, to have a chance to make the team "comfortable" with them.

Especially this year as I fully expect the Cards to finally drop back from throwing the ball 600 times like they have for 4 of the last 5 years.

Still amazes me that the 2005 team had such a pitiful running attack that they had to throw the ball 670 times.

Yeah... although Doucet I guess did enough in practices to get him elevated above Urban. Jehreme kind of lost his rabbi when Haley moved on and he was still under contract here.

I agree with you though that we should see a lot fewer passing attempts.
