If (when) Branyan hits the DL this season I hope we call him up if this AA demolition continues.

Absolutely love this guy but before he makes the majors we need to find out what we have in Brandon Allen. This is his first year above A ball so there is no need to rush him, though if he keeps playing like this then he may force our hand. It is definitely a good problem to have.

I don't see why this guy doesn't get more pub, he has tore up the minors and I think he has more potential than Allen.

From Baseball America:

Goldschmidt's power became the stuff of legend around the Cal League, as nearly everyone he faced witnessed him hitting balls a long way. The league MVP, he led the the circuit in doubles (42), homers (35), extra-base hits (80), total bases (318) and slugging (.606).

More than just a pull hitter, Goldschmidt has power to all fields. He ranked second in the league with 161 strikeouts, and while some observers thought the whiffs were an acceptable tradeoff for his homers, others think he'll make less contact at higher levels because he struggles with high fastballs and pulls off breaking pitches. He's a well below-average runner and athlete who's limited to first base, where he's an adequate defender.

At some point they should just call him up and put him out there. He looks like a big slugger

Not to sound repetitive but uh....

Another homer last night? You better believe it!

I can see this guy becoming another Ryan Howard/Joey Votto/ Mark Texiera type 1B. He was really close to the Minor League Triple Crown last year and is on pace to do the same this year while cutting down on his strikeouts.

So Brandon Allen has played 8 games it looks like in the Outfield for Reno this year. Is there anyway he can play LF in the Majors or would that be a disaster? It would be nice to see him get a chance but if Goldschmidt keeps it up, he could be the power hitting 1B we've always wanted.

Upton-Allen-Goldschmidt could be killer, but at 25 Allen does seem to be getting quite old for a prospect, maybe he's a AAAA kinda guy.

53 games and 193 AB's in: .337 average, 18 homers, 52 RBI's, 41 walks to 36 K's, .454 OBP, and a 1.138 OPS.

This guy has to come up eventually, september I'd guess.

Goldschmidt can and will be the 1B of the long term future for Arizona. That guy can straight up pound the baseball and has a good eye for the plate.

Bumping this thread to officially say that Goldschmidt is my favorite MLB player. And I know some of you all follow Daniel Hudson on Twitter, don't be confused where the #goldschmidtedon hashtag idea came from.

That Slam landed in our section. The roof came off of the building - I haven't been so excited since Tim Hightower scored in the NFC Championship game.

Goldschmidt has got some power, man. Way to step up in the postseason, too.
