Just "passed" the Rockies with these last 2 loses, we're now 2 "back" of the Rangers with 10 games left. They've won 6 in a row, we've lost 4, so we're rapidly "gaining" ground.

Getting the top pick would be help ease the pain of this awful season.

Also of note, the Astros failed to sign the #1 pick from the 2014 draft, so they will automatically be picking 2nd next year, so finishing last or second to last will be the difference between picking 1st and 3rd.

7 games left and with a little more bad luck, we can still lose 100 games, as well as be the worst team in baseball. Not our worst season ever but nonetheless.... man oh man..... :(

Yay!!!!!!! We just sealed the "no 100 loss season" deal!!!

And that's about the best thing we have to celebrate.....:(

Note: The bad news is that we are, as of this writing, the worst team in baseball

At this point the worst record and the top pick would be a blessing.

Agree. What's a few extra wins mean really? Bragging rights? I'd rather see them wind up with the top pick and have their choice of who to pick in a talent heavy draft.

We did it! It took a lot of hard work, just a few short weeks ago we were 4 games behind the Rangers, bur gritty team pulled together and have clinched the worst record with 2 games to spare!

Just hope there is a future "allstar" in next years draft.

Here is a sobering thought. On paper the Diamondbacks are a worse squad going into next season than they were coming into this year.

Manager is the marquee position, but finding a pitching coach who can get the best out of all the young arms in the organization will be the key to long term success.

I hope that means, as I have been posting all season, that our Pitching Coach, Batting Coach and Assistant Batting Coach will be gone at the end of the season, too.

I never know whether to refer to them as Batting Coach or Hitting Coach. In the case of this year's D-backs, it's Batting Coach. Definitely not Hitting Coach. They did bat, but . . . . . .

I just read an article in AZ Republic. Dave Stewart said big roster changes are not likely. He wants to add front line SP but said trade is unlikely (wants to build up farm...great news). But he also said ARZ won't be able to compete for big FA's. So either Stewart is the anti Towers and has one hell of a poker face or we go into next year with the same team that lost close to 100 games. I know injuries hurt this year but we need some new pieces.

New Diamondbacks general manager Dave Stewart said Monday starting pitchers Josh Collmenter and Wade Miley "are locks" for the rotation in 2015, according to FOX Sports Arizona. Stewart added the team will "have a nice competition for the other spots."

Big fan of wade Miley, glad to hear this. That being said, we obviously need to add to the rotation
