I guess Josh Byrnes is very happy he has his puppet as the manager. Instead of replacing Melvin with a fiery type manager, he gets another Melvin as far as attitude goes. Does AJ even look like he cares? This is so pathetic. I guess it could of been worse, the bat boy could of been hired as the pitching coach.

I'm beyond disgusted with this team. And I thought I couldn't be more nauseated during the Suns' season.

It's not just the manager, Lefty, its the entire team. No drive, no passion, no heart.

If we got 25 ASFNers, we could play better than these schmucks

No heart... Upton let a ball go by him that lead to a triple. The only guy who's shown any fire was Montero tonight on his nice double play throw.

now. you were right the other day when (i believe it was you) said what is this society coming to that we can't just blame these piss poor players. I was at the game today and it made me feel sick. It's almost as if its the WBC and we are Brazil, its like we aren't choosing from the same crop of players as the rest of the damn league. Montero just watching that ball sit in front of him, Tracy not stretching his arm at first base to get the close calls, not to mention getting 1 out of 6 against one of the worst teams in the league and then a very average team. At least the 2004 team was terrible but had its moments. That team at least lost games in new ways, some slugfests mixed in and had likeable players. this is just garbage.

I would say when management does its job well. When a majority of the players lack a winning emotion, it reflects the attitude at the top. Yup, it rolls downhill.

As I've quoted before, management's top responsibility is to make it easier for the players to do their job well.

That has not been the case. That is still not the case.

Supersub Augie Ojeda and his .300 batting average, for example, has been batting 8th when he plays. He shouldn't have spent an inning on the bench when Drew was out.

And the man who got the starts at SS is now back in the Minors.

Josh Byrnes and his passive Managers have ruined this team right before our eyes. I don't blame that on 25 individuals on the roster.

The players are accountable. My point is they made a change but was it really a change? They signed a 34-year old who has never managed a game in his life to four years, and he just stands there and shows no emotion. Do you really believe the players are giving AJ 100% respect?

If Byrnes would of signed a fiery manager who has actually managed before, I think the players would be playing harder. Just my opinion. And yes, it does come down to the players being accountable but I think they just don't care. Someone needs to give them a kick in the a$$ and I don't see AJ as that person. What would Jim Leyland do if he was managing this team? I would hope AJ would think that way.

At least Justin Upton is growing up before our eyes. I do not see a total lack of fire. Montero, Upton and Reynolds are trying hard. So too are our starting pitchers.

Give it time. We really have no other choice, do we?

Uggghhhh... this is sad... You just can't admit that THE PLAYERS are part of the problem can you? In fact, I would suggest that certain players: (Young, Byrnes, Snyder, Tracey and now Co-Jack) are the majority of the problem...
Does Josh Byrnes such as a GM? Perhaps... but time will need to elapse more before that can be settled. Does Hinch suck as a manager? Who knows..
What we do know is that there are players who consistently demonstrate a huge lack of ability to play at the major-league level. It has zero to do with Byrnes, Melvin, Schu or Hinch... These players are NOT GOOD ENOUGH, period... And sadly, until this team faces this reality and actually does something about it - the results will not change...

If it was your money, that would be silly. I think.

Perhaps... though, it would still create sizeable improvement for the sorry D-back team... would the improvement justify the expenditure? Up for debate I guess..
