HUGE difference between whiners & moron. Mainly because whiners does apply to you and moron certainly doesn’t apply to me.

Alright. I just got back from a quick vacation to NYC with the wife so I'm just catching up on posts.

You need to stop. Consider this your warning.

Both these dudes are on their third NFL contract and have never been plus players.
It’s true Nichols is more of a journeyman than an impact player. Jones was playing the best football of his career and will certainly be a rotation player with decent impact if he’s healthy as he’s expected to be. Both are only 28, which is not too late to improve. Veterans of decent quality mean depth at positions that are hard to keep injury free. I didn’t nominate them for the Pro Bowl, but both are assets.

Agree! But, it was only a matter of time before Stout would attack you for being optimistic about the Cardinals. The downers on this board make it difficult to even remotely enjoy being on this board.
I’m used to slings and arrows. I’m been doing this too long and in prominent enough places it just goes with the territory. Thanks for your concern.

When exactly was Jones playing the best football of his career? Certainly not last year for the Cards where he was on ice skates the entire season. His acquisition was widely panned even before his disaster 2024:

I'm always replying to the post and never the poster with you, Harry! Love the knowledge and perspective you bring the board even if I don't always agree

Post would be more believable if you didn't state that Jones "was on ice skates the entire season." He tore his triceps in the third game of the season, which ended his season. If he was "on ice skates the entire season", I'm sure it was against medical advice.

His last year in Chicago before he was signed.

Yeah, digging deeper into the #'s, he seems much more like a Jordan Phillips type contract year outlier than a real contributor:

"Jones profiles a little better than Nichols as a pass rusher, with 4.5 sacks in 2023 and 22 QB pressures. That number is a bit of an outlier, however, as he generally hovered at or below about 10 pressures per season.

Where the concern lies is in his disparity in run defense versus pass-rushing.

Sure, PFF grades aren't everything, but the Cardinals are in desperate need of a guy who can truly stuff the run. Jones has posted a sub-60 run defense grade every year since his stellar 2020, and has graded well below 50 in his previous two seasons."

It's a lot of money for a guy that has mostly shown to be a rotation player on usually bad defenses.
