Got home turned on the game and Miggy drives in two with a double. The score is now 4-1.
'Glad to see Miggy come through. But it was a golf swing. Not the kind that (yet) shows consistent hope for a sub-.200 hitter. Time will tell.

Thatcher overcomes blown plays on routine fly balls by both Campana and Parra, and puts up a goose egg in the bottom of the 8th. Nice job.

I thought for sure they were gonna score after the Campana gaffe. Good job, Thatcher!

Campana with a clutch hit to bring in Pennington.

This series win will likely cool down Gibby's seat a bit.

That being said if I see Montero hitting on front of the NL leaders in RBI again I will welcome the change

I would guess Gibby was trying to get Miggy some decent pitches by putting him in front of Trumbo...

Or Parra goes a double short of the cycle and gets moved to 7th for his troubles.
AGAINST A RIGHT HANDER!

Yeah last night's batting order had me imagining BC throwing his remote through his TV.

I am absolutely out of my mind on how Trumbo is being shuffled right now.

The entire point to him is that is a fly ball hitter. There is no defense or speed. Moving him down in the order pretty much guarantees he will see one less at bat per game. That is one less potential home run or sacrifice fly.

A series win vs the Giants always makes me happy. Growing up a Dodger fan gives me an extra little bump in my dislike of the gnats.

About the remote, to the contrary. Gibson finally gave Campana a chance to bat leadoff and he sure came through, with 4 singles and the game-winning RBI in the 10th inning. He also had two stolen bases, although one was incorrectly called a throw-out, even after the dispute. Or, as Steve said, it wasn't video'd clearly enough to reverse.

Despite Gibson's inconsistent batting orders, I should hope the rest of his coaching staff convinces him to play Campana, and bat him leadoff, for the next two weeks to see what he can do. Especially after he recently showed the power to pull a ball that almost went for a HR. He had to settle for a triple.

When my favorite D-back, Craig Counsell, took over leadoff once upon a time, he energized the rest of the lineup in a way that Tony Womack never could.

OK, I'll go along with a platoon with Campana starting against righties for the next two weeks, with Pollack and his .210 batting average starting against lefties.

Campana did misplay a fly ball in CF in the swirling wind, but so did the Giants CF, who plays half of his games at AT&T Stadium.

Even Miggy came through, batting ahead of Trumbo, going 1-4 and driving in 2 (although with a golf swing). Pollack's .210 and Miggy's .200 are one-too-many almost-Mendoza-line-hitters in the batting order on a routine basis. But I agree with you regarding the mistake of dropping Trumbo even lower, behind Miggy.

Once again, if Gibby doesn't give Campana a chance to play CF and bat leadoff, just open your windows. You'll hear my reaction all over the Valley.

And, BTW, when the D'backs give Gibson his walking papers, I hope they don't choose his best friend Alan Trammell to bring about change.

As a pre-teenager in NJ and a Brooklyn Dodger fan when Bobby Thomson hit his shot heard 'round the world, my dislike of the Giants goes back a long way.

To this day, I am so glad that when a$$hole Walter O'Malley wanted to trade Jackie Robinson to the NY Giants, Jackie retired.

The only thing I ever liked about a NY Giants uniform was Willie Mays. How could you not? :)

Yeah Campana looked the part last night outside of the defensive lapse late.

Yeah, you go back a bit farther than me ;). As I was a kid up my family would make trips from Phoenix to LA and catch some Dodger games just about every year, sometimes twice. My favorite player at the time was Orel Hershiser. And I had my dad telling me tales of the Giants dastardly ways, such as Juan Marichal pounding a defenseless Roseboro with his bat. Then I fell head over heals for Mike Piazza.

But the Dbacks came about, I've always been a local sports guy and I finally had a local baseball team... and the Dodgers simultaneously dismantling their team and trade Piazza for a bag of balls and the loath-able Gary Sheffield helped me dump any lingering love I may have had for them.

I'd say nowadays the only thing to respect the Giants for is their gorgeous ballpark, which I am very jealous of. I'd really like to see a game there some day.
