Interesting article about our slim chances of making the playoffs:

https://www.azcentral.com/story/spo...end-their-schedule-wild-card-race/2204519001/

We have 23 games remaining and 19 of them against teams with a losing record and 4 against the Mets, who are only 2 games over .500. The only issue I have with this article is calling all the other teams lowly or bad teams. It makes it sound like we should win all these games. For example the Reds and Padres are both around .460 while we are at .520 which means we win about 1 game more than them every 20 games played or about 6 more wins out of 100 games. Not a huge difference.

We have beaten a lot of good teams this year but we have lost to a lot of teams with losing records. I don't know if it is because of the players or the coaches but either way it is the manager's job to keep the players motivated regardless of the competition. He gets credit when they win (especially against better teams) but it is on him when they play poorly against teams with worse records. The next 23 games should be very telling.

For all intents and purposes, there is no material difference between the Dbacks and teams like the Mets, Reds and Padres... Heck, even with our last 2 wins over San Diego, we still have a losing record against them this season!
The general consensus seems to be that it will take 88 wins to grab that second Wild Card slot... That means the Dbacks would need to go 16 & 7 the rest of the way... Which, given the fact that they are now 11 & 4 over their last 15 games, would seem to be a monumental task as that would take them to 27 & 11 over their final 38 games! A winning % of over .700! Nothing is impossible of course... but, realistically, if 88 wins is the target, I just don't see them getting there...

Neither do I. And even if we did continue this run it probably would not be enough.

I bet that loss to the Dodgers is going to hurt them in the end.

Good luck to the Dbacks players! They are going to need it.

Phillies lost... so at this moment, the only team in front of us is the Cubs.... who are winning against the Brewers.

There are a bunch of other loses that will hurt worse.

The Dodgers loss was in the bag so it really hurt. But for me, winning only 3 games out of our first 10 against the Padres is the likely culprit for us missing the playoffs.
