Will net us more draft picks next year which should help improve the farm granted Hazen doesn't repeat last year's first round mistake and fail to sign the picks.

Curious what AJ is going to get on the open market with his injury history. Felt he should've taken his QO of $17 mil.

My gut is that he'll get a 3 year deal... probably in the range of $10 - $12 Million per.

So if he had signed for 17 million, he could have easily gotten next a two year 20 million deal, if not three.

How can you be so sure? Given his injury track record... I think he'll be looking for a term deal (minimum 3 years) that guarantees him a decent payout...

Interesting comps:

- Springer enters the second year of a 2-year deal in 2019, paying him $12 Million... He's a year younger than AJ and has superior offensive stats.

- Lorenzo Cain, at the age of 32, signed a 5 year $80 Million deal... AJ has superior offensive stats and is arguably a better defender...

Springer's deal was signed to get him through the last couple arbitration years. Not a lot leverage there .

And there is no way AJ is turning down 18mil for one year to sign a 2 year 20 mil deal. If so he should fire his agent

No - that would be AFTER the QO year - saying that he could accept the QO, and then STILL get a two or three year 10-12 million/year deal.
