Three things to know

• Ray has made two career starts against the Phillies during his four-year career. He's 1-1 with a 4.50 ERA in those outings, and has recorded 14 strikeouts and just one walk in 12 innings.

• Lively threw the most pitches of his brief Major League career in his last start against the Red Sox. The right-hander ran his pitch count up to 108 to get through seven innings after allowing three runs on eight hits. Lively's pitch counts were 98 and 95, respectively, in his first two starts.

• D-backs outfielder Gregor Blanco got a rest on Saturday, but is expected to return to the lineup for the series finale. Blanco hit a game-tying two-run homer on Friday night and is hitting .273/.373/.409 on the season.

The D'backs are pushing back Corbin's next start until Friday as he hasn't had much success in Coor's Field. They haven't announced who will be starting Thursday yet but it's pretty obvious that it's going to be Godley, who would be on the standard five day's rest.

Hoover does suck, I'm not sure why he was the guy brought in with yet another day off tomorrow and better options available. (3rd in last week in regards to days off)

But Ray allowed 8 hits and 4 walks for 12 men on base in only 5 innings. That's not going to help much. He looked flustered after that first home run. Almost as if he had put too much pressure on himself and came undone a little.

He hasn't had a bad outing in so long it can be irksome when it happens for him. Bats have to come through at the end now.

Better question is how many outings has this guy had where he didn't give up a hit. Tough when he comes in with guys already on base.
Of his past 12 appearances, 9 of them had hit(s) - not counting today.

I was just hoping we wouldn't attempt a steal there regardless to give Goldy and Lamb a better chance to bat in the 9th. Now Ahmed will start followed by 9th as opposed to at worst starting with a PH. With the way the wind is carrying we really are 1 hit away from a tie game
