I guess that depends on whether or not we've learned anything from the last couple of times everybody wrote the team off. Yes, losing two to the woeful Pirates sucks, but they have still taken 5 of their last 7 series. Things aren't nearly as bad as some are trying to make them seem, even more so if Webb takes care of business tomorrow.

The worst scenario that could happen today, happened. The Diamondbacks lost and the Padres, Rockies and Phillies won. Webb needs to get a win tomorrow.

This could be the biggest choke since the 1964 Phillies lost a 6.5 game lead and lost 10 straight. This team looks like Melvin, lifeless. We had a 3 game lead with 6 to play and have lost the first 2 to the worst team in MLB. The Rockies will smoke us on a spit. The games won't be close. We are done.

As much as I don't want it to happen this team is done. The kids have that far off dazed look and the veterans are finally back to their normal performances. Snyder double plays, Burns is Mr. uppercut popup, and Cojack is Mr. hit on the fist pop up.

Can anyone explain to me why Bob Melvin continues to run out a lineup consisting of two guys at the top with respective OBP's of .298 and .309?

He is losing this with his incompetence. Why Upton and not Salazaar. I love Justin but he is not ready for prime time, i.e. the pressure of playoff baseball. Why pinch hit Callaspo when you need a homer. Why didn't we have Snyder bunt with first and second twice the other night to get runners in scoring position? Because Melvin is not a genius and if you got Mark Grace buzzed I bet he'd say he was an idiot.

This post is pretty ridiculous, I'm saving it for when the D'backs make the playoffs if thats OK w/ you.

I'll be the first to admit I am wrong if they pull out of this tailspin but, I have been a fan of baseball probably longer than you have been alive. I am 52 and have seen major choke jobs and believe me this is one going down. There is no dominant player on this team that can pull them up by the bootstraps such as Colorado's Todd Helton, or San Diego with Peavey and Hoffman and Maddux, and Gonzalez. Philadelphia has Rollins and Howard.

The guys who need to show are choking on their own bile like Burns, Snyder, and even Tony Clark to some extent. You can see the pressing and the stress in their eyes. This team is flatlining and as much as I hate that it isn't deniable. I saw this at the last home game starting to happen. The DBacks have been lifeless in their last 3 games. The rally in game 2 of this series should have been a momentum builder and instead did nothing. I am praying this team can hit today and give Webbie a win. If we get it today we will need at least 1 win in Colorado to clinch the wildcard because we will get at least one game's help from one of the contenders for the wild card.

My post doesn't mean I am not a huge DBacks fan. I will root for them to the bitter end, but I don't believe Melvin is a genius and I believe he lacks the fire to get these guys out of this funk.

Breaking News!!!

Micah Owings is pitching today!!! They are holding Webb out for the Rockies and because the weather will likely cause a rain delay in the middle of the game (80% chance of rain). They don't want to burn Webb in a short outing if the weather rolls in.

If we win today, we only have to beat the Rockies once to ensure that they do not catch us. The Rockies can top out at 90 wins. If we win today and tomorrow, for example, we'll have 90 wins and they will be able to achieve 89 wins.
