Two sources told ESPNChicago's Bruce Levine that the Diamondbacks will make free agent Paul Konerko an offseason priority.

Reportedly, he's going to ask for a minimum 2 year deal worth $24 million.

That is a lot of jack for a guy who will be 35 by ST even if he did chase the Triple Crown this year, I would rather pay Beltre and trade Reynolds. A move like this says the D'Backs are trying to go for it all this year, problem is they need some other major pieces like: a couple of good relievers, a good SP, a productive LF and maybe a 3B if they decide to deal Reynolds to compete for a playoff spot. Spending $12M for one guy whose numbers will most likely decline seems pretty risky. Spend the $12M on bullpen help.

Konerko would make sense under the idea of striking out fewer times, though if he really is going to cost $12 mil I'd rather pick up LaRoche's option. In the end I think Konerko will end up here for somewhere around $18-$20 million.

Ditto. Open the check book, write his name on a check, and let him fill in the rest.

Solves the left field problem, adds another LH hitter, and can you imagine the SPEED our outfield would have?

We would be a nightmare on the basepaths.

Unfortunately, I see no chance of this happening.

After reading the D'Backs plan for the offseason I have compiled a list of guys that seem to fit what they are looking for barring trades of course:

1B:
Ty Wiggington
Lyle Overbay
Aubrey Huff

3B:
Jorge Cantu
Jhonny Peralta
Eric Hinske

LF:
Brad Hawpe
Xavier Nady
Cody Ross

SP:
Freddy Garcia
Jeff Suppan
Jake Westbrook
Jeff Francis
Dave Bush

RP:
Joaquin Benoit
Grant Balfour
Kevin Correia
Ron Mahay
JJ Putz
Will Ohman
Joe Beimel

None of these guys should break the bank and will probably be on the radar.
