With the Padres losing today there is now a 3-way tie for 1st place in the NL West between the Dbacks, Padres and Dodgers. In addition, the Reds lost to St. Louis putting all 3 of the aforementioned teams within 1/2 game of the Wild Card. Should be a fun home stretch. Let's hope the Dbacks can lock up one of the two playoff spots.

The next two weeks are going to sort a lot of things out and the D-Backs have a pretty tough schedule.

Going to be one hell of a exciting finish to the end and the way the dodgers are playing they got me scared a little bit but Russ Ortiz will end all their hopes when he pitches :) Only team i'm really scared about are the Padres they are playing really good ball but I think Dbacks can defintally pass both of those teams and take the division title especially if Quintin and Drew keep playing like they are :) GO DBACKS

The Dodgers had to spoil the fun by winning tonight. The Dbacks are now half a game out in both the division and the wild card.

For some reason this whole division thing reminds me of that joke with the special olympics. Even if you win...

One game out of the wild card and 3.5 out of the NL West after tonight's marathon win. LA has to slow down sooner or later (I hope...)

Yeah, talk about peaking at the right time of year. We'd better kick it into gear or we'll be left in the dust.

The D-backs are a game above .500. You can't expect to win a division or get into the post season with that sort of record... They need to keep their focus on producing W's, and forget about what the Dodgers are doing...

LA was absolutely shelled tonight 15-4, so the Dbacks move up to only 2.5 games back. Hopefully such a big loss helps cool them off after winning 17 of 19 or something crazy like that.

One back in the wild card, three back in the division after tonight's win.

Four back in the division, four back in the wild card.

If this slide continues (8-13 this month) it might be time to consider trading some of those assets that will pass through waivers. Especially with Peavy returning to form, the Dodgers heating up, and more teams passing us in the wild card.

Can we start a new thread for this? I get depressed when I see we used to be in first place. :)

Good point. Then bring up some young starters to get experience?

I'll change the title to more accurately describe the direction the thread has taken.

I think this year is in the tank, barring a miracle...

Not to sound like a Cubs fan, next year is going to be awesome (if they get some pitching)

Could we maybe change the title to "DBacks post-season swan-dive" and unjinx it?

I did, however, laugh when they sent me the $1500 post-season ticket package invoice. Yeah. Right. That may have been the jinx -- Oh, wait, no -- My fault! Every time I see a rattler in my yard, the team goes on about a 5-6 game implosion. Saw a big one Sunday evening. Maybe it'll wear off by the time LA gets in to town.

Thank you kindly. Not sure we'll make it, but it's at least a chase.

Now we need to chase away the blown leads. :)

Man, those Phils are only 1 1/2 back. I never thought I'd be seeing any sort of postseasoon push a month ago.

Only 2.5 back in the wild card, but 5 teams ahead of the Dbacks. The team needs to go on a run if they want to still be playing come October.
