I believe that Holmberg is another lefty and that we might be seeing four in a row during this Reds series.

Who knows, maybe Peralta has a nagging injury that Chip is nursing subtly. A series vs. lefties would be the time to do it.

Hale and Peralta know a lot more about it than we do. And the silence, do we really expect them to announce it and give the opposition insight?

Lol, this isn't hockey chief, it's baseball. Are you saying fans should shut their mouth, watch, and don't ask questions? He's been one of the hottest hitters in baseball the past few weeks regardless of match ups. Fans deserve some word, any word on what's going on for the 3rd game in a row.

I'd like to know, too. But you're telling the wrong guy.

You're right, it isn't hockey. It's Major League baseball. Where management doesn't tip its hand to the world or its opponents.

I am a solid fan, too, but I understand that.

As hot as Beef Wellington was, look at him now. Perhaps Chip is being cautious with Peralta for the long run, especially considering Goldy's drop in power. It is not as if Peralta has played 150 games for the past five years.

And that is not easy for me to say, because I am on record on this site as saying that Goldy and Pollock are our all-stars, but Peralta has been my personal favorite D-back. Perhaps because we are both lefties.

I just find it odd, especially if you check the Dbacks social media timelines from 3 days and back, they were hyping the "Freight Train" in some form or fashion, and then, nothing. I was speculating with the warrior queen last night that Peralta strikes me as the type who might outgrow his hat size and maybe he needed to be knocked down a peg. I don't know, he's one of my favorites going back to watching him last season. Hope it's nothing, and he gets back where he left off.

We need another win tonight. Let's go Dbacks!

I'm disappointed to see Goldy still not getting any rest but that's all I'm gonna say about it for now.

De la rosa with back to back strike outs to end the inning. Dbacks lead 1-0 after the first inning

Pollack is doing everything possible to set up Goldy... However, Goldy continues to flail away in a pathetic way at the plate... This is getting more and more worrisome...

First time I have ever seen him strike out after being ahead 3 & 0 in the count... This is officially embarrassing.
It was a disheartening at bat.:-(

Anyone who thinks there isn't something wrong with Goldy is just flat out NOT watching his at-bats. I'm looking at you Chip Hale.

Here is Chip's quote today about Goldie's problems. I don't know what to believe.

“Obviously he’s gone through a couple of different (down periods),” Diamondbacks manager Chip Hale said. “Those pitches you can hit out are few and far between in the big leagues and he’s just missing those pitches right now.”

Hale says he hasn’t noticed anything out of whack with Goldschmidt’s swing or approach at the plate, noting that, by and large, he still makes pitchers work hard to get him out. He said Goldschmidt and hitting coach Turner Ward “worked on a few things” with his swing mechanics, and that Goldschmidt said he was feeling a little better heading Friday night.

One thing that’s not a concern, Hale said, is how Goldschmidt is feeling physically.

“No, I talked to him about that (Thursday) night,” Hale said. “Physically, he feels good. He’s really good at taking care of his body. We talk to him a bunch about that stuff.”

Asked if he thinks Goldschmidt would tell him if he weren’t feeling good, Hale said, “Yeah, because he wouldn’t want to hurt the team being out there.”

He has pretty much folded like a cheap tent in the last 30 days..... Hitting .265, OBP .388, OPS .766, 1 HR and 32 SO. I don't know what's going on, but SOMETHING is going on and it ain't good.....

Thanks for linking that article BC, I don't know what to believe either.

Yeah I agree. And listen I'm not ragging on Goldy, he is literally my favortie baseball player of all time. The guy does everything the right way, he's all class and he is ultra talented. I'm so proud to have him as a Dback.

But I've been watching him his whole career and I think it's pretty obvious when you watch him right now. He looks to me like someone who is having hamstring or hip issues. I wish I could find the video of where he threw to home against Pittsburg, he got the guy out but literally the second he released the ball he turned his whole body away from the plate and looked very pained. He didn't even watch the play to see if he got the guy out. I saw it and was like oh no he's hurt...

There was a play a few games before that where there was a play at first where he reached back to snag a throw and immediately grabbed his leg in the butt/hip area and remember, they even mentioned it on the air because they said; "Goldy waves off the training staff." Ever since then I think he is hitless.

So maybe Hale is right and he's fine, but we as Dbacks fans have never seen Goldy go into a slump like this. He just doesn't do this and that makes me believe that he's hurt in some way.

Hopefully it's just a tweak or a soreness and maybe it will work itself out. Nothing as far as baseball goes would make me happier! I'm honestly not down on him at all, I'm just worried about him. :(
