Goldy and a bunch of ASFN posters. I expect that my man Chip Hale won't even think about putting a marginal hitter or hitters between Goldy and Tomas as what-was-his-name?. He mumbled so much, I never got it straight. :)

I was hoping ARZ would sign Yoan Moncada who could play 2B or 3B and is only 19. I like the Tomas signing but you have to wonder if ARZ either plans or already has a deal in place to get rid of Trumbo or Ross. I was doing some research and it looks like there is a limit to the signing pool and ARZ has the most money to use, can they sign Moncada too or did they use all their pool money?

I've read that he'll be playing 3B, which he played alot before moving to the outfield.

Don't know how I feel about this. Tons of power, seemingly strikes out alot, really regressed last year.

We'll see.

I can't find the article again now. I'll keep looking, but I read that he played 3B up until he was 19 and then moved to the outfield.

I'm guessing the team will clear it up at the press conference.
Perhaps there was a reason he moved to the outfield. I hope he is more comfortable than Trumbo there.

They can still sign Moncada. Because of his age and limited amount of time as a professional player, he is subject to the international free agent signing bonus pool which the Diamondbacks have the most money in the pool. However, Tomas, was elgible for free agency and free to sign with any team.

Based on my understanding of the contract, there is an opt-out after 4 years, which i believe is similar to what Cespedes signed.

Looks like we beat the Giants out for this guy. Bold move for sure.

Nice signing for you guys. I was hoping the Giants would nab him. Not a good week for the Giants. I hope they come up with something to replace Pablo's bat, as well as Morse's.

Big big big fan of this signing. Yes, he might end up being a total bust, but this is the kind of guy you wanna take a risk on. These Cuban's have been panning out for their teams of late, big time. Excited to watch this guy knock some out of the park.

I have been saying for a few years that I never understood why we don't go after some of these international guys. Just needed to get Uncle Tony in to talk some sense into the organization.

And I really hope he can breathe some personality into this team. Since Parra and Prado left we are a roster of very bland non exciting personalities. It seems like there is zero camaraderie on the team

Tomas and #DBacks still finalizing language and signing bonus payment dates. But final terms were agreed upon last night.

Once the deal is finalized then the press conference will happen.

There is always risk & uncertainty when dealing with talent from outside the U.S. Heck, there is risk & uncertainty whenever teams are making any deals.
I read that the Phillies were all over Tomas, but, due to internal snafu's they got beat to the punch by the Dbacks.
Given the comparative low cost involved here, this can only be viewed as a very smart, calculated and well-crafted move by the Dbacks.
We'll just have to wait and see if Tomas is able to produce at the major league level.
