How/why did the Astros get so good all of a sudden?

It may be that the Dbacks (especially their pitching) arent that great.

The thing that I'd love Gonzo too do is retire after this season, that way we can have Carlos Quentin take over. I like the guy too much too want him traded, I want too see him retire a D'back.

Umm...Gonzo's contract is not likely to be renewed next season, so Quentin will take over.

Anyone else notice Biggio calling Gonzo an "f-ing a-hole" after his double in B11?

Scott hits for the cycle (backwards, no less). Berkman at the plate as the winning run against Pena.

Two road series, two 11-inning wins in game one. Hopefully we do better in the next two than we did in Philly. :)

Way to go Quentin, Estrada and Pen~a!

Has Pena earned himself the role of closer for now?

Can we get Carlos Quentin to start in RF, put Sean Greene on 1st (or sit him in favor of CJ at 1st)? Carlos is too good to be sitting on the bench and get one at bat. Gonzo is playing too well to sit out. Besides, I love Gonzo. He got the most important hit in D-Backs short history when I was praying harder for any hit in my life - as where most of you. We owe Greene nothing... that pos.

That was a very scary game to watch but they won their must-win game in the series. Hopefully they can win 2/3 now. I hope they give Quentin more playing time after this. That was his 4th home run in 15 at bats I think. Did you all see that weak throw from Gonzo when Taveras was trying to score? Wow, that was bad.... I'm happy Julio is finally getting a rest. I kind of miss Valverde. It's frustrating how he pitches like a top closer for a while and then just starts to suck. He was one of my favorite players.

Indeed, it looked like a rainbow. I hate the DH but I wish now we could use it, so Quentin could play in the OF and Gonzo could just hit. He shouldve thrown to second like Grace said. Taveras is fast and Gonzos arm is a noodle.

Gonzo has really stepped up this last few weeks and his bat has backed his mouth. He would have every right to be pissed if he was sat with as well as he is playing. Quentin is all we could have hoped for and i would hate to see his growth stunted by having to sit (as philly11 alluded to in another thread) so i feel we might have to trade Green at pennies on the dollar....

Way too go Snakes!! that game was intense the whole way. A lot of parts I thought I could have had a heart attack from the stress. But it was another good finish for Pena, I'm starting too like this guy.

Well I don't know what too make of tonights game, Juan Cruz on the mound has meant bad things for us latley.

Sunday we might have a shot, we have Miguel Batista on the mound vs. Roger Clemens. If Miguel can have a great night we should be able to win, Clemens hardly ever gets any run support from his offence. Although, it would take some good defence, none of the crap where Gonzo lets the ball drop 1 foot in front of him.

That's what happens when you throw a fastball 90% of the time in closing situations and have trouble spoting it. They begin to tee you up - which they did.

Cruz had a nice start today for us. 7 innings, 3 runs and 8K's. Hopefully now we can get some runs. Unless that Redman trade really happened do you think Cruz will go back to what he was doing before his injury? He was pretty good until these last 4 starts and we need one of our starters to start pitching well, consistently.

Well, that game was painful too watch. We better have our offence today though. If we can outscore the Astros today we can win.

Edit: Great start! Tracy hits a 2 out double that scores gonzo from first. Keep it up!

I'm watching the game on gamecenter on cbssportsline, can anyone tell me how the 4th run scored?

this was the explination on GC:

Biggio grounded into fielder´s choice to third, Burke scored, Ausmus out at third, Taveras to second.

if the third out was a FC , why does the run count?

EDIT: gamecenter removed the run, never mind

Conor Jackson crushes a two run pinch hit home run to give the Dbacks a 7-5 lead in the 9th :fans:
