I hope we are not dead on our feet. Those losses to the Mets were heart breakers.

That's what I like about this team though...they don't quit and play hard everyday. I think they'll be fine.......Now let's get 2 of 3.

Nice start to the 4-game series. Cruz looks like he is getting more comfortable since that horrible outting a few weeks ago.

I read that Valverde gave up a run in his last 5 appearances. With Julio's run last night that means we've given up a run in our last 6 save situations, right?

Yikes. Gotta fix that quick.

But we got the first win against the Braves. Great game by Cruz!

I hate the Braves. I dislike them as much as the Cowboys.

Is the first game of the doubleheader televised? I saw that the afternoon game is on both channel 3 and TBS but I can't find anything on the first game... Go Dbacks!

Nevermind, I found it.... The first game won't be televised which really sucks. I wanted to watch Enrique pitch again plus he's going up against Smoltz. Thats to bad, lets up Enrique keeps pitching good so we can postpone the Russ Ortiz call up.

From azcentral.com-

Friday's game between the Diamondbacks and Braves was postponed and will be made up Saturday as part of a day-night doubleheader.
Game times were announced as 10 a.m. (Arizona time) and 4 p.m. (Arizona time).
Manager Bob Melvin will start the day game with Enrique Gonzalez, who was Friday's scheduled starter, and then go with Claudio Vargas in the night game.
Braves manager Bnobby Cox said he will start John Smoltz in the day game and John Thomson in the nightcap.
As for TV and radio coverage, the day game will not be televised but can be heard on KTAR-AM (620). The night game will be shown on Ch. 3 and be heard on KMVP-AM (860).

Gonzalez is pitching great again today! He has struck out 8, allowed 2 runs, and only walked 1 through 5 innings. We better not send him back to AAA for Ortiz

Dbacks win game one of todays doubleheader 4-2 behind a strong outing by Enrique Gonzalez and the bullpen.

Enrique went 6 innings giving up 4 hits, 2 ER, 1 BB, and 8 K's. Another great start!

Vizcaino pitched a solid 7th and only gave up 1 hit. Lyon came in in the 8th and was awesome. He struck out the side while only giving up one hit. After this mornings outing, Lyon has struck out 8 of the last 9 batters he has faced! Further proof that anyone who suggests Lyon be sent to Tucson is out of their mind.... Jorge Julio closed again and looked great. He pitched a perfect 9th which I don't remember the last time I've seen that done (at least for the Dbacks). Dbacks continue their quest for a sweep today at 4pm. Go Dbacks and while we're at it, Go Suns!

Count on it. GRRRRRRRRR  :bang:

It would have been a lock for Joe Jr. and company to send down Gonzalez so Ortiz could get back in the rotation. I can't say the same for Byrnes. He seems to be doing everything different and it's clearly working. Hopefully he will start Ortiz in the bullpen and leave the rotation alone- the starters have a 1.70 ERA the last 13 games! Don't screw with it!

Never mind. Gonzalez sent back down to Tucson after this mornings game for freaking Terry Mulholland.

What the crap is the front office thinking? This team needs starting pitching and Gonzalez has been very impressive so far. Very dumb move.

Claudio Vargas might be the slowest working pitcher in the majors. It's painful watching him but if he wins, I don't care

This from Rotoworld: Looks like Enrique will be back with the club.

Terry Mulholland - Relief Pitcher
Diamondbacks activated LHP Terry Mulholland from the 15-day disabled list.
Mulholland wasn't a good use of a roster spot at the start of the season, and it's an especially bad idea to carry him now that the rest of the pen is functioning so well. The D'Backs don't even need him as a long reliever, not with Kevin Jarvis up. He'll probably just serve as a mop-up man.

Enrique Gonzalez - Starting Pitcher
Diamondbacks optioned RHP Enrique Gonzalez to Triple-A Tucson.
The Diamondbacks haven't used Kevin Jarvis once since calling him, yet they felt they needed an extra reliever with no off days coming up. Gonzalez will be back as the team's fifth starter once his 10 days in the minors are up. In the meantime, either Jarvis or Terry Mulholland could get a start next week.

I don't know the exacts of what Eric Byrnes was paid this season, but he's earned every last cent of it.
