I don't know the exacts of what Eric Byrnes was paid this season, but he's earned every last cent of it.

This from Rotoworld: Looks like Enrique will be back with the club.

Terry Mulholland - Relief Pitcher
Diamondbacks activated LHP Terry Mulholland from the 15-day disabled list.
Mulholland wasn't a good use of a roster spot at the start of the season, and it's an especially bad idea to carry him now that the rest of the pen is functioning so well. The D'Backs don't even need him as a long reliever, not with Kevin Jarvis up. He'll probably just serve as a mop-up man.

Enrique Gonzalez - Starting Pitcher
Diamondbacks optioned RHP Enrique Gonzalez to Triple-A Tucson.
The Diamondbacks haven't used Kevin Jarvis once since calling him, yet they felt they needed an extra reliever with no off days coming up. Gonzalez will be back as the team's fifth starter once his 10 days in the minors are up. In the meantime, either Jarvis or Terry Mulholland could get a start next week.
Well, at least that makes more sense.

Dbacks looking good in the second game as well, as Easley hits a 2 run homer in the 5th to make it 8-0.

Dbacks pitching and defense starting to really scuffle and Atlanta is back in the game, but still 10-7 Arizona in the 7th.

Poor inning continues, 7 runs in the 7th for Atlanta. Mulholland faces one batter and give up a home run. 10-9 Dbacks now.

Interesting stats on former Dbacks Lance Cormier and Oscar Villarreal. First off, I like both these guys and wish them the best of luck. When looking this up, I noticed Cormier is in AAA now which is surprising. He was one of our only good arms out of the pen last year. Maybe thats just how bad our bullpen was....

Oscar Villarreal vs. AZ Dbacks (2 app) this year- 2.1 IP, 9 hits, 5 ER, 3 HR given up

Lance Cormier vs. AZ Dbacks (1 app) this year- 1.2 IP, 3 hits, 6 ER, 5 BB

Total- 4 IP, 12 hits, 11 ER, 3 HR, 5 BB, only 2 K's

Tony Clark goes deep in the 2nd to make it 2-0 Dbacks! Tony Clark is now 5-5 with 4 HR's against Jorge Sosa! Thats ownership! This has been a great road trip

Tony Clark goes deep and the Diamondbacks are up 2-0. Clark is 5-5 with four homers against Sosa. That is amazing.

DaVannon and Easley have been doing a great job coming off the bench.

Great road trip by the Dbacks. This was the first time ever that the Braves have been swept in a 4 game series at Turner Field. Great work, Webb on the mound tomorrow

This is why I wasn't worried when we dropped 2 of 3 to the Mets. We are a very solid team and the more I watch them, the more i am convinced they have what it take to go the long haul and take this division.

What a difference 3 months makes? I don't hear anyone asking for Melvin's head anymore....Seems like every move he had made so far (including his uncanny ability to play the guy due for a good day) has had the Midas touch. I'm not saying he is completly out of the woods but this is the guy i was hoping we were getting when all team insiders claimed "he was the brains behind the 2001 title team..." I feel like him and Byrnes (a godsend:notworthy ) work well in concert together. I also think Byrnes has alot more input on day to day decisions than people think.....

Just wait if the kids start coming up and producing. We have to be, along with the Dodgers, one of the best combinations in good teams with even more exciting futures.

Melvin has done a good job thus far but I wouldn't say he has the Midas Touch. Bottom line is that everyone on this team is producing, especially the last month. He gives guys like Counsell, Green, and Gonzo a day off every 15 games and guys like Easley come off the bench and hit 3 dongs! The same can be said about the starting rotation..... Byrnes is def a Godsend and I agree 100% that he has his hand on day-to-day decisions. Most moneyball GM's are very invloved in the lineup decisions and other gameday intangibles. You better believe that Byrnes makes sure CoJack gets his playing time.... Every move Byrnes has made has been brilliant. He got rid of big contracts and bad attitudes and in return brought us the most exciting show in baseball. These guys never give up and show 200% more heart than last years team. His latest move may have saved us 2 games on this road trip. IMO, El Duque is not a MLB caliber starting pitcher anymore and can be best used out of the pen. So Byrnes goes out and gets a power reliever who is prob 10 years younger, can setup or close, all for $2 mill less. Julio came in at the perfect time which makes Byrnes look that much better. Lets hope more fans start going to Chase especially since the Suns are done

Four in a row in Hotlanta.

Doesn't get a whole lot better, eh? Plus, the Dodgers lost today, so we're now 2.5 up in the division. Things are looking up in Dbacksland :D
