Cruz coming off the DL to get the start against Lowe in the first game of the series.

The last 6 games before the All-Star break are within our division. We'll feel a lot better about the first half if we win a couple more series.

In other news, Craig Counsel might be the worst lead-off hitter in the Majors.
He isnt your ideal lead off man, but he is far from the worst.

Bob Melvin needs a Remedial Lineup 101 course

Craig Counsell remains my favority D'back, for all he's done for this team in his two stints with us. But he's no longer making the rest of the team better batting leadoff.

Orlando Hudson, one of our hottest hitters in June, still bats eighth.

In fact, our three top hitters in yesterday's loss to the Dodgers hit at the bottom of the order, going 7-12. While our 3-4-5 heart of the batting order went 0-12. Over the course of a season, less at-bats for our best hitters.

Rookie Conor Jackson hitting cleanup, while out best RBI man Johnny Estrada hit seventh?

Why not try batting Hudson leadoff. And Estrada as the RH cleanup hitter. And Shawn Green switched with Gonzo.

Why not try something? Especially if it makes sense.

BoMel getting thrown out of his 3rd game, and very little else, is not a sign of strong management.

A batting order of HUDSON/BYRNES/TRACY/ESTRADA/GREEN/JACKSON/GONZO/COUNSELL is balanced and worth a try, isn't it? But not just for one sporadic game.

And yes, it is time for Drew at SS. (Sorry, CC)

Counsel leading it off with a K. Nice.

I still just don't understand how the guy of all the regulars, with the lowest OBP, is hitting leadoff. Amazing.

Ironically, after I posted this prior to yesterday's game, Melvin did change the batting order. But sadly, it was just for "one sporadic game".

Hudson was moved from 7th or 8th to 2nd. Today, he's back at 7th.

A change was made at cleanup -- he used Byrnes. Today, light hitting Conor Jackson -- the rookie -- is back at cleanup.

Etc., etc., etc.

Bob Melvin's attention span is sorely lacking.

Chad Tracy's career is being ruined by not have Johnny Estrada, our best RBI and clutch hitter, hitting behind him.

We need a manager who plans success, rather than hopes for it . . . as he stands at his post-game press conferences picking at this pimples.

BoMel is awful, I agree 100% with BC's proposed line up, it seems to make the most sense.

Also, the Dbacks black uniforms are nearly as ugly as their play. I can't stand looking out those bland things, bring back the awesome solid purple tops!

Losing out into the break probably gets BoMel canned and hopefully a fire sale. This team again has packed it in under his and the 'leaders' of this team's watch.
