Our 36 million dollar pitcher went only four inning tonight. He sure earned his paycheck today.

13-0 bottom of the fifth. What is scary is Pedro pitches tomorrow. What are the odds he pitches a no hitter?

What's the record for total amount of runs in a 3 game series? I'd think the Mets are getting there?

What's the record for a four-game series because they have to face Pedro in game four?

Well the Mets now have 14 runs and it's only the sixth inning. Can I change my total to 20?

Could this be Melvin's last game? We could only hope so.

"The Arizona Diamondbacks today announced the firing of manager Bob Melvin and his entire coaching staff, along with designating pitcher Russ Ortiz for assignment."

Three....THREE Mets are one hit away from the cycle, two needing triples while one needs a double.

Hell, I say give it to 'em - I figure that if our pitchers actually try to let them hit the ball they don't stand a chance!! :biglaugh:

We still have to face Pedro ?? Oy!

Wright hits yet another HR as I'm typing....it's now SEVENTEEN to 0.

They scored. :notworthy Jackson knocks in Cintron. Those two get to play tomorrow. I say if a Diamondback knocks in a run or scores a run, he gets to play the next game.

Stinnett gets to play tomorrow. He brings in Conor with a double.

Wow, Worrell hits the pitcher on purpose. Why not hit one of their star players?

Well, I actually started laughing almost uncontrollably when they started clobbering Ortiz - and he had 85 pitches and Seo had 40 - I was yelling 'ten run inning, come on, dog-pile on Ortiz!!!' Then I left after CJ's second at-bat.

A few more like that, and Clarabell HAS to be cooked, and his staff with him.

I agree with the post that said hire a freakin' a-hole - I want a kangaroo court, I want mandatory infield practice for EVERYONE. I want shoe-prints on butts! I want Veterans to HATE playing here!!

Hey - this was a good idea!! Really helped, too!

The Diamondbacks players held a closed-door meeting this afternoon, trying to find a spark to help end their most recent losing skid prior to meeting the New York Mets in the third game of a four-game series.

The meeting began approximately 3:30 p.m., shortly after left-hander Shawn Estes threw a simulated game involving other Diamondbacks players including Conor Jackson and Chris Snyder.

The “family” gathering, labeled as such by Tony Clark, lasted well over an hour, breaking up shortly after 5 p.m.

Once the team’s clubhouse opened to the media, at approximately 5:30 p.m., the players declined comment as to the nature of the meeting.

The team’s scheduled batting practice was not held but several players were hitting at the indoor cages near the clubhouse prior to tonight’s 7:10 p.m. start.

From today's AZ Central:

Earlier in the day, General Partner Jeff Moorad said the club's continued inconsistency isn't enough to consider making a managerial change with Bob Melvin.

Damn...I thought Moorad might have had a clue, but I guess I was wrong.

They should hold these type of meetings everyday! It seemed to spark some fire in the hitters, fielders, and pitchers. :thud:

FIRE MELVIN NOW... PUT ORTIZ ON WAIVERS... LET CONOR JACKSON PITCH... (now I'm just being unreasonable)...

I thought we extended Tony Clark for his "leadership" and for being a good clubhouse guy. Seeing in that he called a meeting prior to last night's debacle I'd say it appears Tony Clark really does have the clubouses's ear.

Mets up 2-0 in the 6th and Pedro has a no-hitter. Surprise surprise.

Gonzo breaks up the no-hitter right after I posted the above post.

Mets sweep the Diamondbacks. This is just disgusting. Javy pitches well enough to get a win but this offense is just pathetic. I say play the young guys for the rest of the season. They can't do any worse.

Gambo on the ASR mentioned the D-Backs have been watching the waiver wire trying to find a CF among other things. He also said the D-Backs should trade Luis Gonzalez and that he would likely accept a trade to a contender if said team would pick up his option, which I find very unlikely considering his production. If Gonzo does go, we might have to throw in some cash which I'd be okay with if it meant getting prospects in return.
