And this pic for Flag Day. ASU!

37 years ago today, Chicago Cub and former Arizona State University baseball player, Rick Monday made one of the greatest plays in the history of baseball...which had absolutely nothing to do with baseball. Two hippies made their way onto the field and were ready to burn an American flag in protest. Before they could light it on fire, Rick Monday (also a Marine reservist and veteran) swooped in, scooped up the flag, and saved it. The Cubs were playing in Dodger Stadium, but his actions caused the crowd to erupt in cheers and applause. Even the video board at Dodger Stadium said "Great Play Rick!" This picture became immortalized in baseball history, but I love how in this particular one, the artist colorized the flag.

I sure hope Cahill can pitch a lot better than the last game against the Giants. He has really struggled his last few starts. It's time for him to step up.

no doubt - he needs to step up.

And hopefully Goldy can break out as well.

10Ks for K-Hill, tonight. He did his part. Too bad we left our bats in L.A.

He did do his part. You can't fault him for giving up two runs. But it would have been nice if it didn't start with a walk and hit-batsman. They come back to haunt you.

The Padres pitcher was masterful, giving up just two hits, one in the 1st and one in the 9th.

Agreed. I would have taken that in a heartbeat. Too bad he got no support, 2 hits. :bang:

Another bad loss... Goldy is swinging a very tired and slow bat. If he pulls the ball, it's a weak grounder... Otherwise he is late on everything.
Didi has come crashing down to earth. Prado continues to blow. We continue to get zilcho from Second Base... Ross brings nothing at the plate and Kubel is marginally acceptable.
If not for Parra and an improving Miggy, we would have nothing at all at the plate.
Miley either needs to develop another pitch, or somehow remember how to locate the two pitches he does have...

Nobody is squaring up the ball right now. Disturbing to say the least.

Send Hernandez down to Reno. He just gave up a 3-run homer int the 8th and it looks like the Diamondbacks will get swept by the Padres. One run through 8 innings, this offense sucks.

8 total hits, 2 of which from from Kennedy and 1 from a pinch hitter (Nieves). Our offense has serious issues and yes, Hernandez needs to be dealt with...

DH craps the bed again. Maybe his feelings are still hurt from fans booing him.

This is what happens when you have a one man offense and that one man goes into a slump.

Maybe Hill will be back soon.

Just crappy.

Nice toss to Kennedy by Montero.

We're just really lucky we're in a crappy division.

Hill isn't 100%. They said the bone is not healing properly but he wants to play. They said if he had surgery now, he would miss the rest of the year.
