Ugh... a couple of outs away from losing a series to the Rockies.

Buddy Groom fits perfectly in this bullpen. He gives up a home run to the first guy he faces in the 9th.

This is embarrassing. I wonder if Melvin's job is in jeopardy?

Well, that was not fun. 14-7 is your final.

No way. I just don't see them dumping him after one year. They were just abysmal last year, so they can always say "We improved a lot."

Something is just really wrong with how they play at home. Whatever they do, they need to do something different. It just ain't working.

I think he is being watched very carefully, but doubt they'll do anything about it until off-season. Even I was surprised how down on him the fans around me were - he was getting booed as much as anyone on the field by name, and when he brought in Aquino, the guys behind me started screaming "Who's going to pitch relief tomorrow, you idiot?!"

I'd assume that he'll finish the season, they'll decide about a new GM, and THEN decisions about BoMel, Mike Aldrete, and Mark Davis will be made. I'd happily say goodbye to all three, actually. They are not paying Melvin a high salary, so he's easily expendable.

This was one of those games that was so damn bad it got amusing. People were cracking jokes, practicing boos, generally being fed up and rowdy. Not much else to do. Colorado! Jeez!

The way this team has played all season, I wouldn't be shocked if we go 6-3 against ATL/FLA/STL, then drop all three to the Reds on the upcoming road trip from hell!! ;)

I think BoMel stays but the entire pitching staff goes after this season.

I don't understand Melvin. I am one of the few who thought the Clark signing was a good move but I don't understand why Conor is not starting today. The guy has a hot bat, why bench him now?

By the way, Gonzo doubles in two runs and the D'Backs are up 2-0.

Good lord - we're in a pennant race - you can't start rookies in games that count! Besides, if he thought all you have to do is perform really well to get your name in the lineup, he's come to the wrong manager. Melvin is an idiot.

Haha. I don't expect Conor to start every game but you would expect him to start today after what he did last night.

Vargas has been the best Diamondback pitcher the past month. Thankfully the Diamondback personnel don't listen to this board regarding Vargas. :biglaugh:

Tracy goes yard to make it 6-0. Let's hope they can hold this lead. The bats are coming alive, which is a good sign to start the road trip. Now if the bullpen can get its act together. Maybe being on the road will help.

Amen. I was one of those skeptical of Vargas.

Vargas has retired the last 17 batters. He has a one hitter as the game goes into the bottom of the 6th with the Diamondbacks up 6-0.

I thought Gonzo was ready to charge the Rockies dugout after a pitch went over Tracy's head. I think they should retaliate but not until the 9th inning and if they are up by 5 or more runs. I highly doubt Gonzo would be that adament unless he was 100% sure they were throwing at Tracy.

Looks like Vargas could be getting tired as the Rockies hit a homer to make it 6-3. Maybe Valvarde could pitch the 8th and 9th with tomorrow being an off day.

Green with a stolen base. I wonder if that is pissing off the Rockies? By the way, they said Tony has 18 home runs with 217 at bats. That is just over a homer every 12 at bats. Very impressive.

Gluas has a chance to hit 35+ homers this year. I would say that was not a bad signing. Hopefully he will be 100% healthy next year.

OK... Conor up to PH. PATIENCE, CJ... this is when you get over-intense and try too hard. Listen to the crowd cheer when he's announced! Hee hee.

Deep breath...

THAT was a strike? wow. seemed inside to me. OK, he's 1:1 BB:K so far.

Congrats to Counsell for getting five hits today. I would love to see him steal second to rub it in. Hell, five run lead not safe with this bullpen.
