'Wonder Woman' Movie Loses Director Michelle MacLaren

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/wonder-woman-movie-loses-director-788500

Michelle MacLaren has dropped out of directing Wonder Woman due to what the parties involved are calling creative differences.

“Given creative differences, Warner Bros. and Michelle MacLaren have decided not to move forward with plans to develop and direct Wonder Woman together,” the studio said in a statement.

While the specific differences that led to the split are not known, it inevitably carries echoes of an incident in 2011 when Marvel and director Patty Jenkins also parted ways. Jenkins had been tapped to direct Thor 2, which would have made her the first female director of a Marvel movie. But when she and Marvel hit an impasse, that movie, which came to be titled Thor: The Dark World, was turned over to Alan Taylor. The fact that both MacLaren and Jenkins off their respective projects is sure to raise the question of whether women filmmakers are welcome in the world of high-stakes, superhero movies.

MacLaren, an experienced TV showrunner and director, was to have made her feature directorial debut with Wonder Woman. She's proven herself adept at handling genre material with directing credits that include episodes of Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones and, most recently, Better Call Saul.

DC had their shot with Joss on a Wonder Woman project, and it didn't work out. He went on to rock Marvel instead, for which the DC heads must still be kicking themselves.

Still...bring him back. Let him run with it. The studio is to blame for that one. They had a different version of the character in mind. That has not worked out so well.

He won't do it though. He said he wants to do something original before taking on another major project.

'Wonder Woman' Movie Finds a New Director

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/wonder-woman-movie-finds-a-789099

Just days after losing a director for Wonder Woman, Warners has quickly found another filmmaker to pick up the reins on the high-profile project.

Patty Jenkins, who at one point was to direct Thor 2 for rival Marvel Studios, has closed a deal to helm Warner Bros.' female superhero movie.

Warners moved at lightning speed to sew up another director after parting ways Monday with Michelle MacLaren, the experienced TV director and producer who was to have made her feature directorial debut with Wonder Woman. Creative differences were cited as the reasons for MacLaren's departure.

Chris Pine in Talks to Co-Star in ‘Wonder Woman’

http://variety.com/2015/film/news/wonder-woman-chris-pine-steve-trevor-1201472335/

Wonder Woman is about to get hot and heavy with Chris Pine. Sources tell Variety the “Star Trek” actor is in negotiations to join Gal Gadot in the upcoming superhero pic for Warner Bros.

Pine would play Gadot’s love interest Steve Trevor in the origin story. Warner Bros. had no comment.

Patty Jenkins, who recently replaced Michelle MacLaren, is directing from a script by Jason Fuchs. “Wonder Woman” will be released in 2017.

Charles Roven is exec producing the DC Comics tentpole for Atlas Entertainment. Zack Snyder, director of “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” is also producing.

In the comics, Steve Trevor was an intelligence officer in the United States Army during World War II whose plane crashed on Paradise Island, the isolated homeland of the Amazons. He was nursed back to health by the Amazon princess Diana, who fell in love with him and followed him when he returned to the outside world. There she became Wonder Woman (and also his co-worker, Diana Prince).

Rumors had suggested that Scott Eastwood had landed the part, but insiders tell Variety that Eastwood was given a choice to test for the Trevor role or sign on for a guaranteed supporting part in “Suicide Squad,” which he opted to take.

Warners tested a handful of other actors but later decided to look at more high-profile names and go with a straight offer. Pine won over production execs and Gadot at his meeting, leading the studio to pursue him for the role.

Pine will be a good choice..... the chick,...pretty,...but does she really pop? seen some of the released artwork,...some of them make her very believable ,..others not so much.

feel bad for her, the tv show was not fantastic,...but Linda Carter is a hard act to follow as a super hero amazon.

I have no interest in seeing this. If your name is not "Lynda Carter" you have no business being "Wonder Woman"

You have to give it a chance. Why say something like this and not say something like, if your name isn't Adam West or Michael Keaton, you have no business being "Batman". We all know how well Christian Bale did. So give it a chance. If the first movie bombs, then by all means. ;)

I thought she was good in the Batman movie and she is super hot. She is the girl on Fast and Furious and I have always enjoyed seeing her in those movies

Bombed in quality, which is in zero doubt. Oh, it's making money, but Deadpool is a much more successful film when you look at the budgetary outlay. And watch how sharply ticket sales fall off with this one.

The movie sucked. That was my only initial point.

I doubt the next batman/super man movie with drop in ticket sales.
