I despise this trailer the more I watch it. Superman is legit the guest star in his own movie. It's Black Widow all over again

It's superman, I feel like you gotta embrace the zanny, whacky comic book style.

Don't go for a grounded story. The dude is basically a god from another world, the "Man of Steel" grounded guy just made for an obscenely boring and bland character.

If someone had told me the basic script and all the characters in Suicide Squad I would have expected it to be terrible, but it was awesome. I think this Gunn guy knows what he's doing.

You got the wrong impression.

James Gunn said that this is very much a Superman movie. The others are simply there briefly to establish that Clark is coming up in a world that already had established heroes and powers, which is something no Superman movie has ever done.

How true that is, I don't know. But I have no reason to not believe Gunn until the movie proves otherwise.

Cool random fact about Superman actor David Corenswet - his maternal grandfather created the Choose Your Own Adventures book series.

Agreed. Superman is not some dark, brooding character. He is supposed to be bright, colorful and larger than life.
I hated Snyder’s treatment of Supes and agree with all of the above… but what you just described wasn’t what I was feeling with this trailer. This felt silly and… just cheap. And Gator hit the nail and on the head… TACKY.

Above all else, a Superman movie can’t look tacky. It should feel majestic.

James Gunn says Mister Terrific is the most important of the supporting heroes in #Superman

“I love Mister Terrific. These characters all get their moment in the sun. They all have their moments. They're not just cameos, these are the characters. They're supporting cast, but Mister Terrific is the main character of those characters. He actually has a big part of the plot.”

Based upon the Krypto/Superman scene, it appears to me that this is going back to the style of the first Christopher Reeve Superman movie.... a lot of tongue in cheek, light heartedness and almost looking into the camera amongst all the action (a Guardians of the Galaxy feel). I'll see it in the theater, if only because I trust Gunn not to turn out junk. I could be wrong, but I'll throw the dice and see.

I am a tad more optimistic after the 5 min of footage but not much. I still find the Superman total reboot totally unnecessary. Plus the Krypto CGI is awful at times.

Oddly enough, I’m a tad more optimistic as well. This looks like a completely different take on Superman than I’ve ever seen, what with the robots and dog, but I dug the grand scale of the fortress of solitude and general “popcorn” vibes this clip gave out.

It definitely felt like more of a popcorn movie with a little retro vibe.
