Ryan Reynolds and the gang officially returning for Deadpool 2

http://www.empireonline.com/movies/deadpool/ryan-reynolds-gang-officially-returning-deadpool-2/

It should surprise absolutely no one that 20th Century Fox has been quick to order a sequel to one of this year's biggest hits, Deadpool. And while negotiations about the follow-up have been underway since the original started raking in money, now the studio has confirmed that Ryan Reynolds, writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick and director Tim Miller will all return.

Taking the stage at CinemaCon, studio co-chairman Stacey Snider was happy to announce that Reynolds and the gang have reunited to work on the new movie, and news that Miller will once more be in the director's chair is reassuring. Of course, now they have to make something that lives up to the lunatic fun of that first outing and makes good on the promise made at, er, the end of the movie. It'll help that they probably won't have to struggle through 11 years of development hell this time.

Deadpool 2: Zazie Beetz Will Play Domino

http://www.empireonline.com/people/ryan-reynolds/deadpool-2-zazie-beetz-will-play-domino/

There has been a lot of chatter and speculation about who might play the character of Domino in Deadpool 2. A big list of names hit the web back in October, but as it turns out, no one on it ended up with the role. Ryan Reynolds took to Twitter on Thursday to announce Zazie Beetz.

In the original Marvel comics, Domino was part of a government breeding programme to create the perfect weapon. Despite her showing an ability to manipulate probability in her favour, she was considered a failure and ended up as mercenary with exceptional marksmanship ability and hand-to-hand combat skills. She's also a frequent member of the X-Force team, where she joins forces with Deadpool and Cable (he's still yet to be announced, though Stranger Things' David Harbour is reportedly the frontrunner).

What of her backstory will survive into the movie remains to be seen, but at least we now know who will be playing her. Beetz is part of the cast for Donald Glover's TV comedy Atlanta and has also been seen in movies such as Wolves and James White.

How's that going to work? Brolin as cable and Thanos?

Maybe 10 years ago. Plus I like Perlman but sometimes he can be way to hammy of an actor.
I'm not as married to the idea of Perlman either, but you're reasoning doesn't fit. This is Deadpool 2, after all. Hammy is what this series is about.

It does because you can't have a character who "out hams" Deadpool. For the most part, minus some smart remarks they have been playing the villains pretty straight. Cable is not that kind of villain either.

Uh, Cable is not a villain.

In the comics, Cable is the son of Cyclops and Jean Grey's clone. He leads the New Mutants which regroup as X-Force.

Antagonist would be more accurate. He is not a villain in the sense of being evil but if I recall correctly they often butted heads and were in conflict of each others goals. I have not read any of those comics in over a decade. Also, didn't Cable have a clone? I wonder if that plays a factor? I think they are approaching it from that angle because they keep describing him as Dead Pool's nemesis.

Yep. Stryfe.

Thanks for reminding me. That's the only thing I can think of or this will be another two guys who want the other to get out of their way (a la Thor & Cap) but are forced to buddy up to take out character X who they have not revealed yet.

Yeah, I'm thinking the same way. Super Soldier from the future with a goal in mind and Deadpool gets in the way so they clash...but in the end they team up.

The marketing team for Deadpool are geniuses.

I wonder how much input the writers/director have in the strategy.

IDK, but he looks incredible as both.

Liked the first movie... didn’t love. But that trailer is pretty damn awesome.

They’ve done a masterful job selling the movie without giving anything away plot wise. A rare feat in movie marketing these days.

Let's hope it lives up to the trailer. The pity dick line is an instant classic.

I would love just a cameo but Jackman has said he’s completely done.
