We’ve been patient. We had a glimmer of excitement this year. We’ve seemed to take some baby steps. We watch you extend Baker and Connor. Okay.

But the salary cap savings have left us with a bit of a rash. Some of us have even understood through this “rebuild” era.

However, the December swoon has hurt the “ morale” of your fan base. We’ve seen it so many times in the past. Some believe we are on the cusp but more believe things are a looking a little bleak.

It’s time for the both of you step up. You need to make a splash in free agency. You have to convince us the foundation is laid, the walls are up and now it’s time to put on the roof. If we go into the season with 35m in cap space you’re not going to able to sell us on your commitment to win.

Building through the draft is fine, but it takes more than that to build a winner. We've waited patiently long enough.

It’s time to get in the game. There are wow players that would get our attention. For the love of god, do something. And we’re not talking about building more casitas.

Splash FA signings are garbage far more times than not. Look back at any recent FA class and tell me how many of the top 10 deals you would do again. For me it averages about 2.

Big FA signings are more often about vibes for the fans than real contributions on the field.

You want to pick up a star starter, more often it's done via trade or the draft.

Plus this FA group is weak before the best guys resign with their current team. Haason Reddick is ranked 9th on ESPN and did nothing this year. 100 year old often injured Tyron Smith is ranked 11th. It's not a good year.

You don't have to make "splash" FA signings, but you do have to identify key FA signings and, shockingly, spend the money to get them. Big Johns don't come from the draft and trades alone. I agree that the draft is the best way to find them--cost controlled and whatnot--but you can't just bargain basement shop and hope to build/rebuild a team. That gets you good players who are leaving by the time you get more good players in, because it's such a slow and laborious process. That is, if you manage to identify good talent in the first place.

So, the idea that you shouldn't spend lots of money in FA is a silly one. Spend it wisely, and, if you're going to spend big chunks, frontload where possible to mitigate risks.

I don't know why I keep espousing this basic, common sense approach, seeing as Monti/Baby Dolla Bill won't ever go the extra mile.

Understood. But there are available players out there that would instantly improve us. Yes, you are correct Signing a top free agent indeed helps the vibe for the fans.
If it’s a trade that helps, then make a trade. We are in year 3. We can’t simply hope every draft pick steps in and blossoms.
In addition, if you are going to make a “ splash” it can’t be a 36 year old lineman. It has to be a player that can be here and contribute for the next 4-5 years. No to Reddick. No to Mack.
Trade some picks for Crosby? Parsons? Now you’re talking.

I’ve been patient, it’s time to go for it. We could have been a playoff team this year if we did a little more in offseason(spend money) we wasted an opportunity. No more excuses time to go and show the fans your truly trying to win.

Not to go full @kerouac9

I do like the PHNX crew, but its getting tiring hearing about how Zach Allen/Byron Murphy weren't part of Monti's timeline. Its just weak. Especially when we spend money on Nichols and Jones, etc. Especially when two seconds later they say we need to trade for a Zach Allen type. We could have kept that guy. SMB is a downgrade from Murphy. We didn't get a pass rusher cause we didn't want to spend.

At some point Monti has to shake those Patriots habits. There's no Tom Brady in FA or one on this roster.

And season ticket prices went up significantly. They need to spend money and show their commitment to improving this team.

At this point…….Thinking that Bidwill will ever listen is just foolish.

We all have to remember that top FAs will have choices. And unless we overpay……. We will usually lose. Once you realize that, it will make the pain of losing out on the top talent much easier to stomach.

We are usually the leverage. Rarely the destination.

That’s why drafting and then re-signing our players is so important.

Not to mention, guys who are only coming here for the money are not likely team players and will be a bad culture fit

It’s good (as a Cardinals fan) to have a second team (AFC) that you root for. When the Cards are bad (team 1A) you have your AFC team (1B) you can root for. Been a Cards fan since 95, after a couple years of being a Bills fan. Bills have always been my “backup” team. Still can’t quite grasp why can’t abandon such a historical bad team (and I’ve tried and failed MANY times! And I have zero confidence they will sign any FA the casual fan will know

I will be astonished if they don’t make a splash in free agency. It looks to me like the plan was to really attack this year personnel-wise.

God, Harry. I hope you’re correct. This fanbase needs a shot of adrenaline to boost our hope and belief.
We could buy the culture, rebuild conservative and evaluation period. That is over. If this staff doesn’t believe we’ve accomplished that these first two years , then we are in trouble.
