Saw Director Gets Death Sentence
Source: The Hollywood Reporter
May 5, 2006

Saw director James Wan has signed on to helm Death Sentence for Hyde Park Entertainment and 20th Century Fox, says The Hollywood Reporter.

Written by Ian Jeffers, the story centers on a father out for revenge after his family is attacked in a senseless and heinous gang-initiation crime. The father enacts a death sentence on each perpetrator involved with the crime.

Hyde Park will fully finance and produce Death Sentence, based on Brian Garfield's novel. Garfield also wrote the novel "Death Wish," which spawned the vigilante franchise starring Charles Bronson.

Sounds like Death Sentence = Death Wish.

Just saw this last night. VERY VERY entertaining. Kevin bacon did a really good job in this role. Some of it was a little bit corny but overall a good good time.

I heard it was kind of dead.

Yeah, it had it's moments but overall it was pretty flat.

I have no idea why John Goodman was in this, other than the producers were just trying to add more 'star power'. His character was completely superfluous.

You mean it flatlined?

Disappointing. Usually, you can't go wrong with a revenge movie, but this one was pretty lame.
Agreed. I usually love revenge movies, but this was indeed disappointing. Such weak characters for a solid cast.
