PortlandCardFan is absolutely correct.
Oregon is short funding and somehow the people of this great state (Oregon) do not feel it needs to teach the future leaders of the world.
Sidenote: Nike owner (Knight?) gave the high school basketball star a 90 million dollar contract.
So what?
The overall school system had to cut school days due to lack of funding. I understand it is a private organization and Nike does quite a bit for Oregon as it is, but a few million (tax write-off?) would of helped the school districts.
I am a teacher in Bend so it cut to the bone when I received my recent paycheck. The wierd concept is the people expect me to teach to get a full paycheck. What is up with that?
Oregon has it all...expect an education.
