Backup QB playing (Dilfer)
Playoffs getting to be on the line

Deep down you know this is a game the cardinals blow 999 out of a thousand times.

Everything points to an easy win but I will be absolutely shocked and ecstatic if we win.

while we're definitely not out of the Same Old Sacrds tradition with that first Niners game/Carolina game already under our belts, this team is far enough removed from the travishamockery of most Cards team that I ain't gonna be shocked if they win. I EXPECT them to win - period. Deep down I truly believe we're coming around the corner.

Deep down I know this is going to end up with the cardinals blowing the Niners off the field. Cover, and cover easy. This game will be over by mid third quarter...if that long.

All that matters is who you're putting your money on swd. So, who do you got in this game?

Every year, the Cardinals have a game that will "get us back in the thick of things". Usually the games are much earlier in the season, as we try to get ot 4-5 or 5-7. We always lose. But, this time we are at home against one of the worst teams in the NFL. Of course, I'm scared.

Can't agree with you on this one. I do think that they have turned the corner, and refuse to join in the "S.O.C." rhetoric. You're entitled to feel that way, but I can't buy into the negativity.

Sorry!

You can only stop being the same old Cardinals by arriving at a point where you break out of it. Its a good opportunity to become something other than what we've always been. Can't win on the road, can't win two in a row. Its a great week to smash through another one of these walls and move onto a better situation.

I agree Viper, this is another monkey for the team to get off their back...we still have a whole Zoo to take off this franchise's back but as the team says...one inch at a time.

Especially because Cheese expects the win. That's a killer.

Warner, Edge and who else knows how to win games like this.....

not saying we wont but most of the Cards team have never played in should win games in the pro career and that counts for a lot in my book. Same way they are starting to get used to winning games when ahead they need to work out how to close these one out when not the underdog.

its a mental thing as much as anything i think.

This is a barometer game. If the Cards come out and take care of business, winning easily and efficiently, that's the best possible sign. Really good teams just handle bad teams. If the Cards do that, it's just as good a sign as if they beat a good team.

If they win a sloppy game that they should have put away several times and then just hang on, they're looking at 9-7 and a first round exit at best. If they play sloppily early then come back and nail things down in the second half, that's better, but not great. Even if they come out really up for the game and beat the Niners on energy and emotion, it wouldn't be the best sign.

A TCOB game is best all around.

I agree - I call it a "razor's-edge game - because we can slide in either direction - (a) over the hump and toward the playoffs or (b) down the hill and back into the quagmire.

I do think that considering this a "trap game" is a knee-jerk reflex from the old days.

The reasons I don't think this will be a trap game (definition - one that the players take lightly) are: (a) we lost to SF in Game 1, (b) they're a division rival, (c) for the first time in a gazillion games, we have the chance to be a "winning team" at 6 & 5 (and not just a .500 team like we are now) and (d) the playoff stakes are high - we're still 1 game behind Seattle (with the game we hope to draw even with - played at their place), with each of the final 6 games looming as super-critical.

Anyone who plays professional football and hasn't figured this out (in their gut as well as their head), might consider choosing another profession.

Agree..for what it is worth. Those of us who see this game as anything but a flat out win, feel that way because they don't want to put the "evil eye' or the "whammy" on the team. Yeah, no doubt anyone can win on a given Sunday, but we are certainly a better team than SF.

As Jeff said this is a divisional game, and even more importantly loosing on MNF to them makes this a real payback. Double digit favorites?? I think Harry Truman was President last time that happened!!!

Oh by the way...I fall into the category of not wanting to put the whammy on them. If we were playing the Little Sisters of the Poor I would find a reason for us to possibly lose!!

You are a betting man. Everyone better jump on the Cards -10 now!
The line is creeping up each day, which means the smart money is moving towards the Cardinals. I think the game is close early on & the Cardinals pull away late & win 31-13.

We will be okay. As long as our lame azz coach does not decide to use this particular game to reestablish his love for running behind center for the first two downs of every series.

Really good teams just handle bad teams.

Like the Steelers did the Jets? :D

I think the Cards had their turning the corner game last Sunday in Cincy. They didn't play all that well and still won a critical game on the road.

But this is the NFL, see Steelers-Jets reference above, and you just never know.

So go to the game and make lots of noise.
